Six fashion buys that have Instagram fans excited this week

Our daily Instagram scroll not only leads us to pictures of cute dogs we want to pet, food we want to eat and interiors we want to copy – it also directs us to the best fashion buys, too.

With so many new season pieces dropping online and in store, it can be tricky to know which pieces to snap up and what the current fashion trends are. Do you go for puffy sleeve dresses that can elevate even the simplest of outfits to new stylish heights? Or, do you opt for the fail-safe option and go for a black dress you’re guaranteed to wear on repeat? The answer is, both. But if budget doesn’t stretch that far then there’s one way to make the decision making easier. Shop the pieces that have caught our fashion editors’ eyes, while simultaneously racking up thousands of likes on Instagram.

We’ve combed Instagram to find items that have very quickly garnered a disproportionately large amount of hearts from that brand’s fan base, and then compiled them into one easy-to-shop list that ticks off the current fashion trends.

Instagram’s current fashion trends

This week six items make the edit:

1. Boden’s polka dot jumper

This dreamy jumper will make you grateful for cooler weather.

Polka dots were big news last season, and they’re guaranteed to continue making an impact for autumn/winter. We think this cashmere crew neck is the way to buy into the trend. Yes, it’s £130, but it is cashmere and it’s one you’ll wear so many times over so many years that the cost-per-wear will end up being pennies.

Style tip: wear with a midi skirt and chunky boots for day; for after dark, switch boots for sleek mules.

2. Russell and Bromley’s pink croc flats

Next up, the loafers that’ll brighten up the dullest of autumn days.

If you want to buy something that definitely hits one of the current fashion trends then look no further. Shades of pink were all over the autumn/winter catwalks at the likes of Hugo Boss and Molly Goddard, now, they’re all over the high street. Russell and Bromley’s Snaffle Loafer, priced at £245, are the croc print flats that deserve a forever place in your wardrobe. They go with everything from casual jeans, to flippy summer dresses and sharp suits. And with over 1,200 likes on social, we think they’re likely to sell out.

Style tip: they’re also made to be worn as a chic mule my folding down the back of the loafer – basically a two-for-one buy!

3. Debenhams bargain £89 coat!

An autumn checklist wouldn’t be complete without a statement teddy bear coat, and this one is probably the cosiest one around.

The Olive Curly Boucle Maxi Coat from Principles at Debenhams has made us want to get wrapped up immediately. The soft, teddy pair style is not only the perfect texture to keep you cosy, it’s also the ideal hue. It’s hard to tell, but it’s actually a very deep green, and shades of rich greens were all over the catwalk at the likes of Gucci and Valentino. We think they make everything look instantly premium. Bets part? It’s only £89!

Style tip: team with dusty pink for an unlikely colour combo that really works.

4. Hobb’s updated LBD

Looking for an updated version of the LBD? Look no further…

Fresh from the limited edition London collection, the Analise Dress from Hobbs is the £269 purchase you’ll never regret. The blazer style collar, flattering waist button detail and pleated skirt is all part of the sleek package. You’ll wear this midi dress from dinner dates to black tie soirées.

Style tip: want to make it work for daytime too? Wear with a roll neck top underneath and pointed toe ankle boots.

5. Ted Baker’s white trainers

For day-to-day dressing, a pair of white box fresh trainers will never go amiss.

Racking up over 6,000 likes on Instagram, Ted Baker’s £119 Tedah Branded Leather Trainers are a sure-fire fashion winner. Sleek, timeless and smart, they’ll compliment all the current fashion trends. Not keen on white? They also come in fail-safe black and neutral pink, FYI.

Style tip: wear with a fancy printed midi dress for a high-low look that will work around the clock.

6. Monsoon’s embellished party dress

Last but not least, introducing the dress that’s guaranteed to make you excited for party season…

Monsoon’s party section is one of our favourites. This time, they’ve titillated our fashion senses with the Cara Peacock Embroidered Cape Dress. The sheer cape-style sleeves are perfect for those who prefer some arm coverage and offset the hem length, which is on the shorter side. The metallic feather design will give you lots of opportunities to have fun accessorising too – we’re picturing gold strappy shoes!

Style tip: not all dresses go with black tights, but thankfully this one definitely does.

Happy shopping all the fabulous current fashion trends!
