A remote vibrator is a great way to connect with your partner long-distance or in a new and exciting way. While any vibrator will allow you to control the waves, remote vibrators like these will let others control your device via a mobile app.

The rise of app-controlled and Bluetooth-connected vibrators means long-distance lovers can access pleasure and intimacy with their partner at the tap of a button. For the most part, provided you both have the toy synced up to the app, you're good to go. But these can also be one of the best vibrators for those without a partner, given that they can be more comfortable than holding a toy in position for those with limited grip strength, for example. Some can even offer a hands-free experience, once you've set the device up through a remote or mobile app.

These devices come in all shapes and sizes too. Many types of vibrators offer remote options, including rabbits, bullets, and eggs. At woman&home, we've spent years testing and reviewing all the many types of remote sex toys, and here we've collected a list of our favourites. Our guide will help you understand what to consider when buying a remote vibrator and how to navigate the technology. Plus, we share candid insights from our sex experts on how to make the most of your new vibrator.

If you're looking for just one remote vibrator to buy, it's got to be the new Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 3 Connect App. This sleek clitoral vibrator is an excellent suction toy in its own right (and you can use it without the app connectivity) but combined with the app, it really does take things to a whole new level and allows you or your partner to control the vibrator from anywhere in the world.

The Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 3 is the successor to the Satisfyer Pro 2 vibrator, easily one of the best toys out there. While it's similar in many ways, the new model is made completely of body-safe silicone which feels super soft and luxurious against the skin. Bespoke Liquid Air Technology mirrors the feeling of water running over the clitoris while Air Pulse functionality applies pressure waves without actually making contact for a complete full-body orgasm, without the annoying vibrator buzz.

What I loved most about the Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 3 App, and the reason why it's the top pick on the list, is that it was the most simple to use. I've often found, through testing many of the best remote vibrators, that you have to fumble through picky settings and lacklustre Bluetooth connectivity to get a device working. In the heat of the moment, this is a huge turn-off. But this app was easy to connect with all functions clearly laid out - and plenty of them to choose from. As well as having your partner control your device, you can create your own vibrations within the app and just sit back and relax, or set your vibe to the music and come to your favourite song - like the Lovehoney Juno toy at a much higher quality. Plus, I love the unique range of colour options available, which include red (as above), violet, and black options.

It’s a rabbit vibrator, but not as you know it. The We-Vibe Nova 2 is one of the best rabbit vibrators out there, an innovative vibrator with a sleek, ergonomic profile that uses superior technology to allow for long-distance play. This cleverly brings the design of the original rabbit vibrator bang up to date and delivers toe-curling orgasms too.

Fans of the We-Vibe brand (such as the highly regarded We-Vibe Sync) will already be familiar with its specialized app that you can pair with its range of sex toys. The We-Connect app is free to download and enables users to adjust and customize the speed and “vibe” settings from virtually any location. Our tester for this toy was over 200 miles apart from her boyfriend and gave the app a thumbs up for fuss-free connectivity and ease of use.

"Depending on who wants to take the reins, you can switch between solo control, partner control, and two-way control as your partner has one too," she explains. "I found the touch screen navigation such as left and right swipes and the pinch-to-adjust feature makes it effortless to navigate as you’re getting it on."

Want to climax together? Simply turn on the app’s video or audio mode to see and hear your playmate in real-time. There are over ten vibration and intensity settings to experiment with, from a gentle pulse to an intense tide. There's also the nifty feature that lets you customize and save your crest of pleasure. Beat mode buzzes along to your choice of songs, another great feature for linking up to your favourite playlist.

Tech aside, our tester also said, "I found the sensations provided by the dual-motor hit the spot. The arm flexes and kisses your clit while you thrust so you never lose contact with the clitoris, and the internal part is super smooth with a bulb-like end that stimulates the G-spot, giving me the best blended orgasm ever."

The Svakom Phoenix Neo Interactive has also made it into our best bullet vibrators edit. The wearable bullet vibrator makes a great first impression - it looks slick and stylish and comes with a drawstring bag for storage. But, that's not the only reason why our testers dubbed it one of the best remote vibrators out there. It’s built with sophisticated technology that packs in 11 different vibrations, scaling from juicy foreplay to mind-blowing stimulation so if you already know how to use a bullet vibrator, it's one for you.

"The smooth, curved design boasts a ridged bulb that fits comfortably into my vagina, and the flexible neck means it's easy to manipulate the smaller end into position for perfect clitoral placement," she said. "This snug fit means it's hands-free so you can use it anytime, anywhere."

Our tester, when going solo, found the control button on the toy easy to turn on or off and cycle through the different settings. She also found it simple to switch to the app for remote-control use - a great feature for solo play or living out your sexual fantasies by handing power to your partner. The Svakom app enables the user to control settings like intensity and pattern. But the most unique feature, she discovered, was that you can set the vibration to react and mimic sounds and music tempo on your phone, as well as videos.

However, our tester also said: "I did have some issues with the app crashing when trying to sync up music from the music app on my phone. There is a workaround but I'd say you need to be quite tech-savvy to use it. The best way, we found, was streaming the songs directly to the app from my laptop via WIFI."

Lovehoney Juno Rechargeable Music-Activated Panty Vibrator is the perfect remote vibrator if you're looking to time your orgasm to your favourite song. While this is something that can be achieved with our top pick - the Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 3 -  as well, this Lovehoney panty vibe is a more affordable alternative and specially designed to buzz along to the beat.

Controlled via a remote, rather than an app like many of the best remote vibrators on the list, this is a simple way to entertain yourself away from the bedroom. Simply slip the vibrator into your underwear and you or your partner can control the device from up to 8 meters away.

There is a bullet vibrator alternative but as our tester Mandy Ruther says, the panty vibrator is "more stimulating because of the position". "It's possible to enjoy an orgasm on the dance floor if you get the positioning and soundtrack right but it also depends on what you wear," she says. "The vibe isn't heavy but it can be enough to weigh down your panties so you lose contact and stimulation. Jeans worked a treat but any outfit that holds it in the right position will do."

When it comes to choosing your music, she says: "I experimented and found that drum’N’bass was the perfect genre to trigger the Knicker Vibrator without taking my head out of the game." Just be sure to use lube and make sure the volume is turned up loud enough for the remote control to catch it.

Luxury sex toy brand LELO has some of the chicest vibrators out there and the Tiani 3 is no different. Available in three colours with gold detailing, this couple's toy wouldn't look out of place on a curated shelf. But, it's about more than style with this pick of the best remote vibrators. Described as a couple's massager, it offers both internal and external stimulation for you and your penis partner during penetrative sex. "One arm vibrates inside you for G-spot stimulation while the other massages the clitoris, and in turn your partner's penis," says our tester. "I've tested a few remote-controlled toys over time and the vibrations aren't particularly strong compared to some others but it still created a pleasurable experience overall."

Made from body-safe and waterproof silicone, this toy easily slips into place (with plenty of water-based lube). "Despite claiming to be made to fit all body shapes and sizes, I did find it slipped out often and needed to be held in place. We found it was best used when doing missionary positions or more relaxed moves, rather than anything where you're sitting vertically."

Unlike other luxury couple's toys, the Tiani 3 is controlled solely by a remote, with no app functionality. This means it's not suitable for long-distance couples, as your partner needs to be close by to connect. The sleek remote fits in the palm of your hand and features LELO's Sensemotion technology that allows you to increase the intensity of the vibes with a flick of the wrist. It's worth taking time to play with the remote and get to know the eight pre-programmed settings before you get started. You can also use this wearable without the remote.

While it does come with an expensive price tag, LELO often hosts sales - like the LELO Black Friday sale, live now. As one of the best vibrators on Amazon, it's worth investing if you're savvy and can pick up this luxury sex toy for less.

The Satisfyer Dual Pleasure is one of the best remote vibrators to tease and please the star of the show - your clitoris. As a clitoral vibrator, this device is designed to be used when masturbating. It's also a great addition during foreplay, or when trying out sex positions focusing on the clitoris to enhance the experience, and it’s surprisingly effective for a guaranteed orgasm. In fact, after experiencing this kind of easy climax, you might wonder how you ever managed without it.

For first-timers, our testers found that it's a straightforward toy to operate. "You just place the circular opening over the clitoris and air-pulse pressure provides waves of sensations to your clit," she says. "If you enjoy oral sex like me, I'd say it comes a very close second to the real thing. Plus, unlike many other clitoral stimulators I tested, it’s also dual-action. Flip it around and it can be used to massage your G-spot thanks to a vibrating silicone shaft that slides smoothly inside of you."

You can control the stimulator remotely by downloading the free Satisfyer Connect app and linking via Bluetooth. This sets you off on a head-spinning journey discovering the limitless, programmable vibrations and range of 11 different intensity settings. Our tester was also sitting at home many miles away from her partner and found that it was great for some long-distance action as it's easy to add a partner onto the app, which is not the case for many other remote vibrators on the market. "Once you've given them the option to drive your device, all I needed to do was lie back and enjoy," she adds.

Our tester particularly loved that this toy is waterproof as well, so she could continue to play in the bath, hot tub, or during steamy shower sex. "It’s also small enough to pop into your makeup bag, making it a must-have for sexy weekends away," she says.

More expensive than many other vibrators on the list

Even with all the lesbian sex toys out there, it's still surprising to see a brand cater specifically to couples where both partners have a vagina - and do it so well. Instead of having to buy two of the same toys to use together, the Tease Us Set (Moxie and Moxie) delivers two toys in one set. The set consists of two identical, app-controlled wearable panty vibrators that connect via the classic We-Vibe app. Ideal for foreplay, in my opinion.

While they're not the most advanced of all the best remote vibrators, they're among the simplest (and most effective) around. I found it easy to connect my device to my partner's app and vice versa, with a basic in-app slider that moves up or down to control the intensity of the vibration. There are 10 vibration modes to choose from as well, so I appreciated just how easy it was to use in the heat of the moment. The vibes are totally waterproof and actually whisper quiet as the brand suggests too, I found, meaning they're suitable for anywhere in the house or outside of it.

My favourite feature of the Moxie, which sets it apart from somewhat similar vibes on this list, is the magnetic pebble-shaped clip. This pebble detaches and on placing the device inside the panties, you attach it to the other side of the material to keep the vibrator in place.

While the Moxie is our tried-and-tested favourite, We-Vibe's Tease Us Set does also offer a box for opposite-sex couples that features the Moxie and a cock ring that can be used simultaneously in the same way.

Firm insertable might be too much for some

We also deemed Satisfyer's Hot Lover Connect one of the top rabbits on the market thanks to its heated design that offers a sensual, body-like experience and lets you play around with temperature. But, that's not the only reason this toy is a standout here at W&H HQ as one of the best remote vibrators. The rabbit comes with an impressive 12 pre-set vibration modes, but when connected to the free Satisfyer Connect App you have the opportunity to create new vibration programs and even sync your toy with your favourite Spotify songs.

Our tester loved the experience of using a heated shaft that can reach up to 39 degrees and was impressed at how easy-to-use the brand's app was. "I had to take time to explore the app before getting started but took the range of settings as a sign that I'd never get bored of this toy which makes a nice change. When I handed over control of the app to their partner, I enjoyed the anticipation of waiting to find out what settings they would choose. Best of all, my partner didn't even need to be in the same room as me to take control of the Hot Lover Connect. I think this is a real win for long-distance couples, as your partner can connect to your toy and control it from afar. There's also a video function to add a sexy visual element to your play time."

The rabbit is made from body-safe, waterproof silicone with two high-powered motors that offer both internal and external stimulation. While our tester appreciated the ergonomic design and the flexible clitoral head they did find the insertable length quite firm and uncomfortable at first. Again, plenty of lube is key to enjoying this toy. It's also worth noting that this toy can be used without the heated function and is 100% waterproof for even more fun.

If you like deep penetration to tip you over the edge, we think the Lovense Osci 2 is one of the best remote vibrators for the job. Made from silky smooth silicone, this slender toy can unlock a powerful G-spot orgasm with targeted stimulation of your hard-to-reach pleasure spot.

There are only three intensity settings to cycle through - less than other vibrators on our list - but our tester found the rumbles on this toy to be the perfect amount of pinpointed pressure. "I loved the curved fit of the shaft and the unique osculating head that throbs rhythmically in and out on the G-spot, rather than buzzing or spinning against it," she says.

Our tester found the toy incredibly easy to grip when trying it out solo as well. And it's waterproof too, so more than suitable for wet play. The real standout feature though is the associated, free Lovense app, purely because it works so smoothly. Operate the Osci 2 from your phone or tablet and there are 10 vibe patterns to make you quiver. Plus, the option to connect as a couple and relinquish control to your partner. This is one of the other standout features of the toy, our tester found. "My partner also has a toy so they can both be synced together to respond simultaneously. I found that it turned a standard sexy, remote session into a truly interactive experience. There's even a group chat option if you're feeling even more adventurous but we didn't test this out."

Noisy when on the higher settings

The Lovehoney Rechargeable Remote Control Small Love Egg is what many people think of when it comes to a remote vibrator. Complete with a cord for easy removal like a tampon, this toy is designed to be inserted into the vagina and offers constant G-spot stimulation. It's controlled buy a simple remote, which you can hold yourself or pass onto your partner for external control.

The egg's slim-fit design makes it a good choice for those new to remote vibrators like these. It's easy to insert and pivot to target the most enjoyable areas. The smaller size also makes it more comfortable to wear and you can be safe in the knowledge it's secure inside you. All you need is a dash of lubricant for easy insertion and removal.

"On the highest settings, I found it surprisingly noisy even when inserted. It produces a loud buzzing that sounds like an electric toothbrush, which can be a little off-putting in the moment. It would stop me from using this device out of the house but if I were to do that, it's unlikely I'd be using it above the first or second setting given the intensity of this device, so it's not a problem," says our tester.

How we tested the best remote vibrators

As noted, the health team at woman&home is pretty experienced in testing sex toys, from rabbit vibrators to clitoral stimulators, the best wand vibrators, and love eggs. To find a curated list of the best ones, we consulted the experts to find out what makes a great solo toy.

With this in mind, we rounded up a selection of remote vibrators from famous brands, including We-Vibe and Lovehoney, along with independent stores, and tried and tested every one of them. As we only include the very best on our list, the experience of using the remote vibrator needed to be sexy, smooth, and exciting, regardless of whether couples were in the same room or in different countries. We also tested the vibrators alone, to see how well they fared for solo play.

When testing the vibrators, we considered:

  • How easy they were to set up and use: No one wants to be fumbling around with screens or buttons to find the right spot mid-play, so we tested how easy it actually was to use each vibrator.
  • The material: Most high-quality remote-controlled vibes will be made of body-safe silicone, which should feel soft, so we only included vibrators in our roundup that felt smooth to use. The silicone should also make the vibe easy to clean after use, so this was another key factor we considered.
  • How they performed on the pleasure scale: In short, did they make us feel good, and did we enjoy the experience of using them solo and with a partner?
  • Stimulation: It's important to consider your pleasure zones and where you would most like to stimulate, given that this is the key benefit of using a vibrator, so we tested a variety of toys that offer different types of stimulation, including G-spot orgasms, clitoral orgasms, and all-over stimulation.
  • Available tech and features: Remote-controlled or Bluetooth-controlled toys are perfect for solo play or with a partner at home, but long-distance couples should opt for toys with apps that use Wi-Fi. We rated our toys based on the features they had available and how easy they'd be to use across the internet. If you're planning to take your toy abroad, you'll want a travel-sized option, so we included some of these, too.
  • Waterproof: If sex in the shower is on the agenda or hot tub foreplay is your idea of a good time, consider one of the waterproof toys in our selection.

How to choose the best remote vibrator

  • Decide where/what you want to stimulate: "Like with all sex toys, remote vibrators come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and do different things. For example, some (like knicker vibrators) are designed to sit inside your underwear and stimulate the clitoris, while others (like love eggs) are inserted to stimulate the G-spot, and some do both," says Elisabeth Neumann , a sexologist and Lovehoney's user research manager.
  • Think about how you're going to use it: "The beauty of a remote vibrator is that they can often be controlled from anywhere. Deciding how you’re most likely to use it may help choose one that's right for you," she says. "If it’s for a long-distance relationship, for example, a solo vibrator might be best. If you’re going to be using it during partnered sex, then a couple’s remote vibrator is more suitable."
  • Consider where you're going to use it: "Similarly, where you want to use the remote vibrator and in what scenario will help you choose. Some are designed to be worn outside the bedroom (like knicker vibrators, some love eggs) while others are designed specifically for intercourse."
  • Battery versus USB charging: Both have their benefits but it's an important factor to consider. Neumann recommends the latter "for the environment and also for reliable play and no unwanted surprises", however, if you're someone with plenty of batteries on hand already and knowledge of your local battery recycling point, then you're likely not going to be bothered by a battery-operated toy.

Why are remote vibrators good for couples?

Remote vibrators are some of the top picks for couples for a reason, says Neumann. For couples separated by distance, using one of these app-controlled vibrators can be a fun and innovative way to boost your sex life. But, these vibrator types aren't just for long-distance lovers. They can even help to spice things up in the bedroom for those who live together.

"In the moment of sexual excitement, it can be hard to focus on [small details] like button placement. It's much easier if you can just have a look at the control without needing to remove the toy from the vulva," she explains.

These toys also offer additional settings with their apps and controls, given that they physically have more space and capability. "Often, remote or app offers additional settings that can't be chosen when just using buttons on the toy, so remote allows more versatility and playfulness."

For those who have any mobility issues, these vibrators may also be easier to use. "There are so many conditions that might make it difficult to hold or control a toy, so a remote vibrator gives more flexibility and space of movement because hands don't always need to be with the toy," says the sexologist.

How to use a remote control vibrator

  • Make sure it's fully charged: "Have everything fully charged to avoid disappointment," says Neumann. "Always make sure your sex toys are charged between uses, but it’s extra important when it comes to a remote vibrator, as there are multiple things to charge which contribute to the overall experience."
  • Try different erogenous zones: Much like every other type of vibrator, from bullets all the way through to wands, you don't have to use a remote vibrator on certain areas. Try tracing it up the inside of your leg, down your back, and across your chest. See what feels good for you (and your partner) and try experimenting with different erogenous zones.
  • Be patient with yourself: "It might need some time to get used to the technical setup, so don’t get too frustrated if you can’t get it right the first time you try. Taking some time to learn the controls before using them could also help here," she says.
  • Be playful and enjoy: "A remote vibrator, particularly one with an app, usually offers much more variation to play and adjust," says the sexologist. "Be guided by curiosity and don’t be afraid to explore the new options."
