How much were Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid for their Oprah interview is the question on many people's minds after tuning in to hear the couple make some astonishing revelations.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey was possibly the biggest royal event of the year so far - and there wasn't even be a crown or tiara in sight. The two-hour CBS special which aired in the United States last night saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex finally share their side of the story after they confirmed they are never coming back to the royal family in February.  

The "tell-all" interview comes fourteen months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior members of the Royal Family. Tonight, ITV will air the interview in the UK, but in the meantime, the royal couple's remarkable TV appearance has got us wondering - how much were Harry and Meghan paid for their Oprah interview?

How much were Harry and Meghan paid for their Oprah interview?

With anticipated viewing figures prior to the Oprah Winfrey interview airing in the millions, some might have speculated that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan were set to receive an equally impressive fee for taking part. 

However, when it comes to the question of how much Harry and Meghan were paid for their Oprah interview the answer might just take many people by surprise. Despite the repercussions that the Duke and Duchess' participation might have - some have suggested they could lose their royal titles after the Oprah interview - it seems they opened up to the talkshow host without any fee whatsoever.

According to Page Six, Prince Harry and Meghan were not paid at all for the interview.

"A spokeswoman for the Oprah Winfrey Network confirmed that the couple won’t be collecting a paycheck and said that no donations are being made to their charity,” the publication reported. 

This isn’t the first time people have been curious about the couple’s financial affairs. After the value of Meghan and Harry’s Netflix deal was revealed last September, fans and critics alike have paid close attention to their independent business ventures. 

During the Oprah interview, Meghan shared some particularly heartbreaking revelations, admitting she experienced struggles with her mental health in the first few years after her marriage to Prince Harry. She also shared her one regret after leaving the Royal Family, stating that she had believed it when they told her she "would be protected".

Whilst Prince Harry declared that he was "proud" of both of them for stepping down as working royals. 

‘We did what we had to do and now we have another little one on the way,” he explained.
