The recent heatwave forced me to seriously assess my footwear, as someone highly loyal to trainers, even in the summer, when the temperature tipped above 30 degrees, I knew the most comfortable sandals were next on my shopping list. Having already fallen for these ergonomically smart Skechers Slip-in trainers, trying the brand's slip-in sandal was a logical choice.

When it comes to everyday footwear, I tend to veer towards the most comfortable trainers. As someone who doesn't drive and is constantly on the go, I need supportive summer sandals, and as much as I love fashion, I can't be dealing with aching feet at the end of the day. Constantly racing out the door, especially on mornings with childcare drop-off, I love something unfussy that I can slip on, and know that I'll still be happy in my shoes 8 hours later.

Enter the Skechers Slip-ins Go Walk Flex Sandal. I'll preface this whole piece by saying they aren't the world's prettiest footwear, but my goodness, are they comfortable. As with the slip-in trainers, these shoes needed no wearing in or getting used to, and they're so lovely and light, they're the perfect buddies for summer.

Specifications

Price: RRP £45.99 (was £65)

Size range: UK 3-7 (including medium and wide widths)

Fastening: Velcro, but a slip-in and slip-off style means you don't actually have to fasten it every time

Upper/sole material: Synthetic, textile

Available in three colourways, black, navy or taupe, the multi-strap design reminds me of Helen Skelton's TEVA sandals, so you're getting that slightly sportier silhouette, which naturally makes them less 'pretty'. But that also does help them look and feel more supportive, and for all-day wear, that's what I really want.

With a sporty silhouette that gives them fashion credentials as part of the spring/summer shoe trends for 2026, these aren't dainty sandals; they're made for walking and comfort, so if you're off on a sightseeing holiday or put your steps in on the daily, styled well, these are certainly an asset to a summer capsule wardrobe.

Skechers Slip-ins Go Walk Flex Sandal: Comfort & Support

If I had to describe Skechers Slip-ins Go Walk Flex Sandal with one word, I actually think comfort would be it. They're not fashiony in any sense of the word, and they aren't pretty and embellished or delicate, but if you want a sandal that feels like it is going to last, that you'll be wearing for years to come, and you'll feel smug when everyone else is desperate to take their summer shoes off, then these are the sandals for you.

Ergonomically brilliant, as you don't need to bend down to put them on, as after you've adjusted the strap on the first wear, you can slip in or out of them with ease, these silhouette is similar to that of a walking sandal, giving them an athletic and sporty design, that to be honest, is often quite a core trend in the summer, alongside embellished styles.

I love that I can chuck them on quickly and know that however long my day is, or however much walking I need to do, these sandals will meet the demand and keep me comfortable and supported. The heel support is amazing; it's firm to help you slip in and out of the sandal without bending, but it's also well-padded to keep you comfortable and in place.

The contouring footbed again delivers the same kind of support as my much-loved Birkenstocks, but dare I say it, they're more comfortable, just as easy to wear, and they don't require any wearing in, which I find Birkenstocks always do.

Skechers Slip-ins Go Walk Flex Sandal: Style

When it comes to style, I'd say this is the biggest compromise. These aren't catwalk-worthy, but if you want comfort, support and ergonomics, I'd say you'd struggle to find better. They fall into the category of Teva and Birkenstocks, a slightly chunkier, built for wear and use, not-for-attractiveness genre, but that somehow, when styled with intention, adds to the appeal.

Pair the black iteration with darker summer outfits, or with trousers, but I actually think the taupe pair could work with smarter occasion outfits in the right setting and with similarly muted hues.

If they made a white pair, as they're machine washable, I'd absolutely snap them up, as I think they'd be super easy to style for smart-casual outfit ideas. But the black is great for everyday wear, on holiday, or as part of plane outfit ideas.

Skechers Slip-ins Go Walk Flex Sandal: Cleaning & Care

While the shoes aren't waterproof, ie, don't wear them on a wet hike, try the best hiking sandals instead. They are machine washable, which makes them even better, as they're practical in terms of upkeep too.

I love a shoe I can just chuck in the washing machine - I do this all the time with my Vivaia sneakerinas, but as I have the black Skechers, I imagine I will rarely need to wash them to that level, and will use a damp e-cloth if necessary. However, if you opt for the pink or taupe pair, being able to launder them properly is great.

Skechers Slip-ins Go Walk Flex Sandal: Verdict

My verdict on the Skechers Slip-ins Go Walk Flex Sandals? They're a big 10/10 for me. While I wish they could cram all that genius technology and comfort into something a little prettier or embellished, I do think these are fantastically comfortable sandals, and I have been wearing them exclusively since I got them.

The sporty, hiking-style sandal did come back into fashion a few seasons ago, and the aesthetic still is on the outer fringes when it comes to trending footwear, and although statement metalwork and gladiator looks are still striding ahead, I firmly believe that a comfort-first, supportive sporty summer shoe will always have a home in your summer wardrobe, because sometimes, it is simply about getting from A to B.

And that's not me knocking the styling, I think in the time I've been wearing them, they have certainly grown on me in terms of aesthetics, but I think they're best with darker colours, and as my penchant for Boden summer dress has been well documented, I think these just need to be styled with darker colours and patterns to really maximise the style.
