Designs with added height don't usually fall into the most comfortable sandal category, which is why, when I was looking for leg-lengthening summer shoes, I turned to FitFlop. After practically living in its loafers all winter and persistently wearing the brand's flatform sandals the last two summers, I know I can always rely on FitFlop for comfort and style, and after browsing the site, I spotted the FitFlop Platforms Wedge Toe-Post Sandals.
With a thicker platform than its Flatform Wedge Sandals (which I also own), these shoes are definitely a dressier style, making them suitable for special occasions, fancy dinner reservations or simply for adding a touch of sophistication to your everyday tailoring or denim. The best part is that you don't sacrifice comfort due to their cushioned midsole and ergonomically contoured footbed.

Discounted on Amazon and at Debenhams, there is no better time to invest in these platform sandals. They feature a thick platform sole and a trendy toe-post, giving them a stylish finish. Not only do they look the part, but they are made with comfort in mind. The midsole has soft cushioning inside a firmer shell for stability. They also have heel-to-forefoot angle optimising technology.
FitFlop Platforms Wedge Toe-Post Sandals: Comfort & Support
From the first wear, the cushioned midsoles are instantly noticeable, offering you immediate comfort and a subtle cushioning with each step you take. Unlike lots of the platform sandals I have owned previously, this really makes a difference in being able to wear them all day long rather than for just a couple of hours.
I put them to the test the first weekend I got my hands on them, and wore them to a pub dinner that required a 30-minute walk, and they well and truly succeeded. Although it wasn't like wearing flats, and the 72mm of added height takes some getting used to, these sandals were easy to walk in, and the cushioned soles make all the difference.
The toe-bar is also subtly padded, which wraps around the top of your foot, meaning that there is minimal rubbing. They also feature a practical sole with added grip, which adds even more stability when wearing them outdoors on a range of surfaces.
FitFlop Platforms Wedge Toe-Post Sandals: Style
Since getting these platform wedges, I've not stopped wearing them. Their versatile, sleek black design makes them super easy to style, and they complement a range of colours too, from darker neutrals to lighter, brighter shades. The thick platform wedge evokes those well-loved sandal styles of the 90s, giving them a subtle retro flair.

From pairing with my best wide-leg jeans and a sharp blazer on days I'm heading to the office or meeting friends after work, to finishing off satin slip skirts or midi-dresses when I'm heading to an event or going out for dinner, these sandals have already earned their stripes in terms of style.
They also come in several other colourways, including a soft beige, a light denim and a pigmented berry shade.
FitFlop Platforms Wedge Toe-Post Sandals: Cleaning & Care
Although these platform sandals are made from a smooth fabric-like material, they are refreshingly low-maintenance in terms of cleaning. They don't seem to scuff easily, and having worn them a lot, I am pleasantly surprised at how they haven't marked at all.
The fabric exteriors are wipe-cleanable, so if they do get scuffs on them, you could always use a soft, damp cloth. For the rubber soles, it's worth buying a light brush like this one and using some mild soap to remove any debris or dirt.
