We can always trust Sarah Jessica Parker to impart fashion wisdom that makes directional, intentional dressing a lot easier than it looks. Her styling tips require minimal effort for maximum payoff, and her spring-ready denim trick might just be one of our favourites.
In April last year, she was photographed wearing the classic combination of skinny jeans and ankle boots, but with a seasonal twist. Reworking her grey denim for the warmer season of spring, she folded the long hems up to give the skinny style a deep cuff before teaming them with a pair of fitted short boots.
While this styling trick leaves a little bit of leg on show to hint at the shorter hemlines soon to come in the summer, Sarah still styled the rest of her outfit with pieces that can keep you warm in the early days of spring, including a slouchy tee, tailored coat and a classic quilted handbag.

If you haven't already added a pair of cropped jeans to your spring capsule wardrobe, rolling the hem of your tried-and-tested, go-to pair is a great way to try out the look and extend the life of your favourite denim. You’ll want to stick to skinny and slim styles to get a neat cuff, with this having the added bonus of playing into the slim and cigarette styles that are taking off as some of the biggest denim trends for 2026.
Cropped denim is a great solution for when you’re wondering what to wear today. With an outfit formula like Sarah’s, featuring the layers of a T-shirt and tailored coat, you’re covered for any weather.
When it comes to styling your cropped denim, woman&home’s Fashion Editor Rivkie Baum says, “Key to the look is the right style of boot, and an ankle boot will often be too short for this type of ensemble. Opt for boots that finish above the ankle, but aren't quite at the calf, and fit snug against your leg.”
