Zara Tindall and her husband Mike have shared adorable photos showing how they’re celebrating this year’s Royal Ascot.
The equestrian event is a major date in the all of the royals’ calendar (opens in new tab), but it is especially special for the Queen’s eldest granddaughter Zara as she is a British equestrian herself, having competed in a number of big events including the Olympics.
Due to this year’s coronavirus lockdown (opens in new tab), the event is taking place without the usual top hat- and elegant dress-adorned audience, instead streaming the races virtually for people to enjoy from the comfort of their own homes.
But the sporty couple wouldn’t let lockdown get in their way of marking the annual equestrian event, with Zara and her rugby player husband Mike getting dressed to the nines in their home to watch the events.
And it looks as if Zara was channelling her cousin-in-law Duchess Catherine, whom she has always seemed to have a close relationship with, with her choice of Royal Ascot outfit.
Throughout lockdown, the Duchess of Cambridge has made numerous appearances, dressing in a different bright colour each time seemingly to convey a very important message (opens in new tab).
However, one colour that she has regularly been seen in recently is blue, with the Duchess wearing a lovely collection of beautiful blue frocks for her recent events (opens in new tab) – and one that even reflected one of Duchess Meghan’s most iconic looks (opens in new tab).
As well as the colour choice, Zara’s choice of designer was a nod to her cousin’s wife as it happens to be one of the Duchess’s favourite ethical brands (opens in new tab).
For this year’s Ascot, Zara chose to wear the gorgeous Darsha floral-print silk midi dress by Beulah London, a sustainable fashion brand that the Duchess of Cambridge has worn in the past for royal events (opens in new tab).
