‘Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex visited Frimley Park yesterday to deliver meals made for NHS staff by the generous volunteers at @LiRFC as part of their #PoweringtheNHS initiative,’ wrote the hospital on their Twitter page.
‘Thank you for the visit @RoyalFamily!’
The Countess of Wessex and husband Prince Edward live nearby to the hospital at Bagshot Park, so made their way over to the hospital to support the NHS staff.
‘The club’s players and staff, together with other volunteers, have been preparing and delivering meals to NHS staff at a number of hospitals, including Frimley Park, for several weeks as they respond to the Covid-19 pandemic,’ wrote the hospital on their website. ‘More than 50,000 meals have now been delivered.
‘The Earl and Countess were met outside the hospital by Ally Stevens, our interim deputy director of nursing, and Caroline Dodds, physiotherapy team leader.
‘The meals were then distributed to staff in the physiotherapy department as well as other areas.
‘The Countess was also at Frimley Park in April when she joined volunteers in packing and distributing food and care packages for frontline staff.’
