Nigella Lawson reveals bizarre beauty trick for smooth skin

By Amy Hunt
Nigella Lawson may be one of the most polished and youthful looking celebrities out there, but the TV chef has revealed that she turns to some rather strange measures when it comes to her beauty regime.
The 58-year-old admitted at a recent Q&A that rather than opting for a flannel or even a brush, she uses something a bit more unorthodox to scrub her body.
Nigella confessed that she uses washing up gloves to exfoliate - explaining that she specifically uses the ones with silicone springs on them to do so.
She told the audience, "I am the sucker who buys things. I recently bought some washing up gloves with silicone bits on the palm for scrubbing. I exfoliate with them. I like them.”
It may not be what we would use - but it certainly looks like it's working for Nigella!
The gloves often sell for only around £2-£5 too, meaning if we were brave enough to try them, they'd definitely be a more affordable method of keeping our skin smooth and supple.
However, a cosmetic doctor, Vincent Wong, has advised that the unusual method could actually be damaging to Nigella's body. He told The Sun, “The texture of the gloves are quite rough and it can be really damaging to over stress your skin. She’s doing the complete opposite to helping her skin.”
During a Table Manners podcast earlier this year, Nigella also shared an insight into her healthy lifestyle. hinting that she's taken to cutting out alcohol, in a bid to combat her anxiety.
She confessed, “I feel I’m quite an anxious person and drink can really exacerbate that anxiety.
“It gets rid of it at first but then afterwards, that horrible tight feeling of worry and generally not feeling quite right.”
However, she was quick to make clear that she's never really been a big drinker, but has found herself less able to cope with it as she's got older. Nigella explained, "I don’t mean that much drink, but it does something to me. But maybe that’s an age thing. It’s being out of practice."
