Kerry Washington's $10.50 manicure was all about female empowerment

The Little Fires Everywhere star is fast becoming our nail icon.

Kerry Washington's manicure for International Women's Day delivered a powerful message for young girls and women everywhere.

In a video posted yesterday, the actress teamed up with OPI to reveal bold burgundy-red nails against a soundtrack of The Power by Snap.

Washington captioned her post: "Going into International Women's Day like....I mean...if fierce was a color, it would be @opi’s #WeTheFemale shade. I am sooooooo proud to have created this color with badass female founder @1stladyofcolors back in 2016 as part of our Washington DC collection and I am so proud that it’s a color that continues to inspire.❤️💋"

The post comes hot off the back of OPI's announcement last week that Washington will take on the role of ambassador to commemorate the brand's 40th anniversary.

Over the course of this year, OPI will be shining a spotlight on 40 of its most iconic nail polishes - We The Female is obviously one of them and given it's a shade that flatters every skin tone and comes in at an affordable $10.50, we can see why. Plus it's perfect if you Googled 'how to do gel nails at home' and decided to plump for regular polish instead until you can see your regular nail pro.

This isn't the first time that Washington's manicure has nailed the current Zeitgeist.

The Little Fires Everywhere star posted an epic 'Biden-Harris' manicure on Inauguration Day, featuring a deep red base; tiny red, white and blue stars to both her middle fingers and the Biden-Harris campaign logo on her ring fingers.

It seems Washington is the star whose nail inspo we'll be adding to our Pinterest boards from now on.
