This 60s-inspired haircut is set to be the next big thing in 2021
The style has previously been seen on Alexa Chung, Keira Knightley and even the Duchess of Cambridge. Will you be giving it a go when salons reopen?

According to hair experts, 60s bangs are about to make a big comeback. With celebrities everywhere already opting for fringe hairstyles inspired by the decade, it's set to be one of the biggest looks of 2021.
"This year’s 60s-inspired fringe is an update on the curtain bangs that were everywhere at the end of 2020," explains Ondine Cowley, senior stylist at Nicky Clarke Salons. "Blunter this time and long enough to graze the eyelashes, it’s perfect paired with soft layers around the face, works on any length of hair and draws attention to strong eyes.
"Recently celebs like Winnie Harlow and Olivia Culpo have been seen with fringes like this, but some of my favourite inspiration for this style comes from past looks from Taylor Swift, Alexa Chung and Keira Knightley," she adds. "I also like Kate Middleton’s take, which is slightly longer, and easily swept to the side. This style of fringe is a really sexy look that will never go out of fashion." Interested? Keep reading for how to recreate the style at home.

How to style 60s bangs at home
"If clients want to try this look at home, I’d really recommend having a consultation with your stylist over FaceTime if possible," Cowley stresses. "Different fringe styles suit different people and your stylist will be best placed to advise on what will work best for you."
If getting a Zoom call in with your hairdresser isn't possible, Cowley advises speaking to your family and friends to get their opinion. "Some people look fantastic with a blunt fringe, while for others, a longer variation that can be swept to the side easily will work better."
Of course, the ideal scenario when getting 60s bangs is to book an appointment your hair stylist. But if your go-to is closed because of the pandemic, Cowley has shared a few musts for how to cut bangs at home.
"Rough dry hair and blow dry your fringe first, as hair can jump if it’s cut wet and you want to avoid accidentally chopping too short. It’s best to start longer and slowly take smithers off with scissors to shorten it or make it choppier afterwards. Use hairdressing scissors where possible."
As for styling your new bangs on the regular? "To style your fringe, blow dry it with a round brush – try Nicky Clarke’s Frizz Control hairdryer which uses ionic technology to keep hair smooth and sleek, or the Frizz Control Hot Air Styler which makes styling it even easier."
Now all we need to know is, when will hairdressers open again?
