Reese Witherspoon reveals that she’s a 'Bridgerton' fan

Reese Witherspoon has revealed that she too is a fan of the Netflix series 'Bridgerton' as she took to Instagram to reveal her adoration of the show.

Netflix's 'Bridgerton' was rated as the most-watched show on the streaming site ever, so perhaps it isn’t so shocking that A-listers have also indulged in the regency drama. Reese Witherspoon took to Instagram to share her love of the show with a nearly 20-year-old throwback photo.

Reese posted a still from the 2002 adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s 'The Importance of Being Earnest' when she played the character, Cecily Cardew.  The A-lister captioned the post, “Watches one episode of #Bridgerton” with a selection of flower emojis.

The star looked as if her iconic character, Elle Woods from 'Legally Blonde', had taken a tumble into a period drama as she stunned in a pink regency-inspired costume. 

Fans were excited by this confession from Reese and many commented that they too had become obsessed with the show -  and who can blame them? From the sultry scenes to the fabulously good-looking cast, there is a good reason the show has been on Netflix’s top ten most-watched shows since December 2020. 

One fan confessed, “It's SO good. Finished the whole season in 2 days.” Another fan agreed and hilariously said, “Ah the importance of being earnest with myself about watching too much Bridgerton....”

Penelope Featherington herself, Nicola Coughlan, commented on Reese’s post, “Lady Witherspoon looking like the diamond of the season indeed.” Which is extremely complimentary coming from an actual member of the 'Bridgerton' cast.

Other celebrities also flocked to celebrate Reese’s post. Mindy Kaling commented on the image with a praising hand emoji and Zooey Deschanel commented, “So pretty!!!” AnnaSophia Robb (The Carrie Diaries) complimented Reese’s period costume and stated, “Omg Reese! This look needs a comeback!” 

Reese and AnnaSophia aren’t alone when it comes to lusting after period costumes in 2021. Since the release of 'Bridgerton', ‘Regencycore’ has become a new clothing trend that has been inspired by the series. This is one of the many trends that the show has influenced as fans are completely obsessed with anything 'Bridgerton' related.

The show has recently announced that there will be a second series of the fabulous show. Dare we hope that Reese might make a cameo seeing as she has just confessed to loving the show? An Elle Woods X 'Bridgerton' crossover sounds like exactly what the world needs right now.
