Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have announced that they are expecting a baby this year—and the newborn will reportedly receive a title upon his or her arrival.
- Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are currently expecting their first child together.
- The baby will receive a title, although Princess Eugenie's son does not have one.
- In other royal news, Meghan and Harry's sentimental wedding anniversary gifts will melt your heart.
The baby will be Princess Beatrice's first child and her husband's second, as he shares a five-year-old son, Wolfie, with his ex-fiancée.
Buckingham Palace confirmed Beatrice's pregnancy in a statement on May 19, writing, "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year.
"The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news." The statement was accompanied by a photograph of the couple on their wedding day last year.

2021 has been quite the year for royal babies. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child, August Philip Hawke, in February. The following month, Zara and Mike Tindall also welcomed a son, Lucas Philip.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a baby girl in the summer, meaning that the Queen will have welcomed four new great-grandchildren into her family by the end of the year. Her Majesty now has ten great-grandchildren (soon to be 12!) in total.
Princess Beatrice's baby will receive a title when he or she arrives, despite her sister's son August not having one. However, this isn't an unfair oversight—it's simply that the title is not a British one.
What title will Princess Beatrice's baby have?
As Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi's official title is Count, the baby will inherit the title of Cont or Nobile Donna—which means "noble woman" in Italian. His family was part of the Italian Nobility and has retained the accompanying titles.
Following the couple's wedding, Beatrice actually became an Italian countess. The pair will celebrate their second wedding anniversary in a matter of weeks, having tied the knot in a small, socially distanced ceremony last year.
Edoardo's father Count Mozzi told the Daily Mail in 2020, "Edoardo is the only male descendent taking the family into the next generation. He is a count – his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna."
We can't wait to hear news of their baby's safe arrival!
