Lady Louise's poignant message to Prince Philip celebrates her late grandfather's life and the close bond they shared. The young royal's message came as she joined her family in remembering the late Duke of Edinburgh one year after his passing.

Lady Louise and Prince Philip's bond was clear in their precious time together and after his passing too. The doting grandfather left her the most prized possessions in his will and it's no wonder, as Lady Louise Windsor’s birth marked a turning point for Prince Philip after a royal 'snub.'

Paying tribute to the late Duke, the young royal wore an equestrian-themed brooch. This piece of jewelry is an adorable nod to her and Philip's shared passion for all things equestrian—especially carriage riding, which has become her favorite hobby.

Sadly, however, Sophie Wessex revealed why Lady Louise had to give up her favorite hobby and it's all related to the tough year that lies ahead.

Lady Louise's life-altering decision has meant she's got less time to enjoy carriage riding, but the young royal still manages to get involved—including with this cute accessory.

This isn't the first time she's worn this particular piece of jewelry, which she also sported at Prince Philip's funeral.

As well as the sweet gesture, many royal fans couldn't help but notice how elegant and grown-up she looked. Perhaps Lady Louise's royal style icon offered some guidance on her outfit for the service?

One Twitter user remarked, "Lady Louise looked absolutely stunning today. She really has blossomed!"

Another Tweet, echoing this sentiment added, "Isn't Lady Louise Windsor absolutely blossoming. I hope she decides she'd like to play a greater role when she finishes her full time education. I wonder if she will take up her title and become the next Princess Louise."

Considering the fact that Lady Louise Windsor became the 'royal family's secret weapon' during a very difficult year, many still wonder why Lady Louise isn't a Princess—despite there being laws that allow her to be.
