Ionic Meaning
Many players struggled with this challenge because they were simply unfamiliar with this term. The word is not particularly common and mostly appears in Chemistry or Physics lessons, more than it does in everyday life. So what does the word ionic mean?
The Cambridge dictionary defines 'ionic' as 'relating to an atom or small group of atoms that has an electrical charge because it has added or lost one or more electrons'. To use this word in context, you could say, 'When an ionic solid dissolves in water, bonds are formed between water molecules and the ions'. The word is also commonly used to describe 'ionic bonding'.
