Jennifer Lawrence urges fans to fight back against Republican party's 'radical wing' in passionate call to action
Jennifer Lawrence has called out the Republican party for manipulating the US voting system in a powerful new video
Jennifer Lawrence has called out a "radical wing" of the Republican Party, accusing them of "actively dismantling Americans' rights to vote."
The Hunger Games actor took to Twitter on June 10 to raise awareness of the GOP's political tactics, which she alleges include targeting ethnic minorities and manipulating voting districts.
In the powerful video message posted by the anti-corruption organization, RepresentUs, Jennifer explains how the Republican Party's so-called "radical wing" undermines US democracy, before educating viewers on how they can reclaim their power.
"Whatever side of the aisle you find yourself on, you need to know that your vote matters," she said. "And the outcome of our elections are not maneuvered and manipulated."

Jennifer went on to detail how the US voting system is currently under threat by the Republican Party, launching a number of strong claims against an unnamed subset of the conservative group.
"In Texas, Georgia and Florida, and 44 other states, there's a radical wing of the Republican Party that is actively dismantling Americans' rights to vote, because they don't have the numbers to win otherwise," she said.

The Joy star accused the group of preventing millions of people from accessing the ballot box by "shutting down hundreds of voting facilities within reach of minorities and specifically targeting and carving out people of color." Jennifer also claimed that, in order to win an election, the group relies on "gerrymandering", a practice that involves redrawing the boundaries of an electoral map to favor a particular political party.
After condemning these tactics as "cheating", the Oscar-winning actor shared some advice on how Americans can regain their power. She urged listeners to support the For the People Act, a law that, if passed by the Senate, could bring an end to this corrupt behavior and restore the country's democratic voting system.
"It can reverse these anti-voting laws, and it can stop billionaires from being able to buy our elections," she said. "It even says that all voting machines need to be made here in the US."
The For the People Act was first introduced in the Senate in 2019 and was passed by the House of Representatives in March 2021.
However, it still needs to pass the Senate to become a law. With this "radical wing" active in nearly all 50 states and strong opposition from congressional Republicans to any electoral changes, the For the People Act faces a lot of obstacles. Jennifer hopes to empower the public to ensure lawmakers give the bill a thumbs-up on voting day—which is now less than two weeks away.
"Please, go to www.represent.us/jen and my friends at RepresentUs can help you call your senator right now," Jennifer said. "Let the politicians bicker and throw tantrums, let’s just make sure they remember who they work for.”
