Sweet slumbers aren’t just a night-time treat — they make your days brighter and lighter too. Which begs the question: why do so many of us skimp on our mattresses? You can’t put a price on pressure relief and genuinely restorative sleep, but if you could, it might sit somewhere around the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress.

If you’re not familiar with it, the Regency Kew 2800 is widely regarded as one of the best cooling mattresses you can buy. It’s designed to tackle night sweats, support healthy spinal alignment, and minimise motion transfer, so you’re less likely to feel every toss and turn if you share your bed. At its core is a 2,800 pocket spring system (in a king size), which responds independently to your body weight and sleeping position, helping to distribute pressure evenly across your shoulders, hips and lower back.

We handed it over to one of our expert testers who regularly struggles with night sweats, back pain and sleep disruption caused by a wriggly partner. Her question was simple: can the Regency Kew really work a miracle? After nearly a year of hands-on testing, through heatwaves, cold snaps and everything in between, here’s what she found.

Madeline is part of our tester network and she's been working hard on finding the perfect sleep set-up to help her tackle night sweats. She's struggles with menopausal symptoms as well as back pain, so we found her a cooling, firm mattress that would help to bring her back pain into proper alignment.

What's the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress made from?

As you’d expect from a premium mattress, the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress has a lot going on beneath the covers. It’s built with five distinct layers of comfort, each designed to play a specific role in temperature regulation, pressure relief and long-term support. Starting from the outside and working in:

The bamboo-infused cover is the first thing you’ll notice and a real win for hot sleepers. Bamboo fibres are naturally breathable and moisture-wicking, helping to draw heat and perspiration away from the body. In practice, that means the surface feels cooler and less clammy, even if you’re prone to night sweats.

Beneath this sit two further layers of bamboo and poly-cotton, followed by a layer of high-density polyester. Together, these comfort layers add gentle cushioning without the sink-in feel of memory foam. During testing, they created a plush but buoyant surface that felt supportive rather than soft, making it easier to move and change position during the night.

At the heart of the mattress are mini comfort springs (also known as micro springs), which sit above the main pocket spring unit. These smaller springs respond quickly to pressure, adding a responsive, contouring feel around the shoulders, hips and lower back. Below them are the traditional pocket springs (individually encased to move independently) which provide the mattress’s core support and strong edge stability. This means you can sleep right up to the sides without that rolling-off sensation, and you’re less likely to feel a partner moving beside you.

The Regency Kew is double-sided, with identical layers on both sides, so flipping and rotating it delivers consistent comfort over time. This design, combined with the durable bamboo fillings and spring construction, makes it a mattress that’s built to last, provided you give it a little care. Sleepeezee recommends rotating the mattress head-to-toe weekly for the first three months, then monthly thereafter, to keep the surface feeling plump and evenly supportive.

For anyone dealing with night sweats, back pain or a restless partner, the layered construction isn’t just impressive on paper, it translates into cooler, more stable and noticeably more comfortable sleep night after night.

According to Dreams, all mattresses come with free doorstep delivery within two weeks, an impressively quick turnaround for a mattress at this price point. For an additional £39, you can upgrade to their Room of Choice service, which includes carrying the mattress to your bedroom. This needs to be arranged at checkout, but as our tester discovered, it’s money well spent.

Madeline was impressed from the outset. Because she ordered through Dreams, she was able to use their mattress recycling service, something that isn’t always offered as standard. “It meant I could rest easy knowing my old mattress was properly disposed of,” she told us. After placing her order, she received a large plastic wrap in the post within a few days, which she used to seal her old mattress ready for collection. There is an additional charge for recycling (starting from £20 for a single), but as Madeline pointed out, “it’s cheaper and far less stressful than arranging a council collection or trying to strap a mattress to the roof of a family hatchback and driving it to the tip.”

When delivery day arrived, the experience lived up to expectations. Madeline noted that the team were friendly, calm and efficient, even though she was the final stop of the day and temperatures were hovering around 35°C. “They didn’t grumble once,” she said. “They manoeuvred both the old and new mattresses up and down my narrow, twisty staircase with ease.” It’s a detail that really highlights the value of the Room of Choice service, which she described as “frankly priceless.”

The mattress itself arrived in a simple plastic sleeve, which felt refreshingly minimal and easy to dispose of. Once unwrapped, Madeline was immediately struck by the mattress’s depth and plush, hotel-level feel. “I was already in love,” she wrote in her testing notes and that was before she’d even slept on it.

What's the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress like to sleep on?

It’s been nearly a year since Madeline began sleeping on the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress, so it’s fair to say it’s been thoroughly put through its paces. Even now, she and her husband describe their sleep as consistently restful, calling the mattress “a game-changer.”

Before switching, Madeline was almost exclusively a back sleeper, not by choice, but because it was the only position that felt comfortable on her old mattress. Her first night on the Regency Kew was telling. “I could immediately feel my hips and lower back were cushioned and properly supported,” she noted. That balanced support encouraged her to move more naturally during the night, rather than locking herself into one position to avoid discomfort. “It really highlighted how much we’d neglected our sleep and how important a good mattress actually is,” she added. The upgrade even sparked a knock-on effect: her husband promptly invested in new pillows so they could recreate what he dubbed their “hotel experience bed” at home.

One of the standout benefits of a high-spring-count pocket-sprung mattress is reduced motion transfer, and here the Regency Kew delivered. As a light sleeper, Madeline usually finds sharing a bed challenging, but she reported far fewer disturbances. The individually encased springs absorbed movement effectively, while the reinforced edge support proved particularly impressive. “It made the whole sleep surface feel usable,” she explained. “I could sleep right to the edge without feeling like I was going to roll or slide off,” which, in practice, made the bed feel noticeably larger.

Then there’s what Madeline calls the “million-dollar question”: can it actually help with night sweats? She’s realistic about the limitations. “My hormones are so erratic that my temperature can fluctuate wildly from one night to the next,” she said. That said, she tested the mattress during a heatwave, a true stress test. After a few weeks, she noticed a clear difference. “I didn’t need to stick my feet out of the duvet for relief, and in the mornings the bed felt cool to the touch much more quickly.” While it didn’t eliminate night sweats entirely, it made her sleep noticeably cooler and more consistent — a meaningful improvement for anyone prone to overheating at night.

Is the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress good value?

There’s no getting around the fact that the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress sits firmly in the premium price bracket. However, after nearly a year of sleeping on it, Madeline is unequivocal about its value. “It’s 100% worth it,” she says. “I’d never settle for a budget mattress again and as I get older, the importance of proper support really can’t be overstated.”

She also points out that the wider package helps justify the investment. “The Dreams service, the brand’s strong green credentials and the reassuring guarantee all add up to make the Regency Kew genuinely good value for money,” she explains. When you factor in the long-term durability, double-sided design and consistent performance night after night, it’s a mattress that earns its keep over time, rather than one you’ll be looking to replace after a few years.

Should you buy the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress?

If you’re choosing a mattress as a long-term investment rather than a passing trend, the Sleepeezee Regency Kew 2800 Pocket Sprung Mattress is hard to fault. As Madeline puts it, “there might be other mattress brands with trendier images or more visibility on your socials, but for a real investment in your sleep quality I would recommend this to a friend in a heartbeat.”

This mattress is best suited to sleepers who prioritise proper support, durability and consistent comfort over time, particularly those dealing with back pain, night sweats or disrupted sleep from a partner’s movements. Its standout advantage is the double-sided design, which delivers firm, dependable support night after night and helps the mattress maintain its structure for years, rather than months.

How we test mattresses

At woman&home, we have a series of standardised tests that we put all of our mattresses through. We make sure that our experts have slept on the mattress for at least a month before we look for feedback, because this is the amount of time that a physiotherapist recommends for noticing real change.

Madeline has been sleeping on this mattress since June and her feedback remains the same. She looks at everything from comfort to motion transfer to make sure that we are giving you a complete picture of what the mattress is like to sleep on. We also talk about value, composition, and we'll talk about who we think the mattress will suit and why.

By the end of the review, you should have a really clear idea of what this mattress is like to use. If you want to find out more, you can read more on our dedicated page for how we test mattresses.
