“Hygge” has become one of the most talked-about lifestyle concepts of recent years. If you missed its meaning (or its pronunciation, “hoo-gah”) it centres on cultivating warmth, cosiness, and contentment. In other words, everything we crave the moment the temperatures drop.

While there are countless ways to make your home cosy, when it comes to that cocooned feeling, a warming throw feels particularly entitled to claim a slice of the hygge spotlight. Yet, as someone who has used electric blankets for more than 17 years, I know better than most that not all heated throws are created equal and that there are plenty of electric blanket mistakes people make before they even buy them. So, when one arrived with “Hygge” proudly printed in its name, my tester instincts immediately sparked.

Who would the Dreamland Hygge Days Faux Fur Warming Throw suit?

Heated throws come in a spectrum of fabrics and finishes, but this one positions itself as the choice for those chasing the “Scandi look”. The naturally warming faux fur delivers an indulgent layer of texture to a living room or bedroom; casually draped across the bed or sofa, it instantly elevates the space and brings that covetable winter-retreat aesthetic.

If you’re searching for a heated throw capable of giving off enough warmth to keep you cosy in a snow-dusted cabin (or, more realistically, a poorly insulated UK home) this is a standout option. Even before switching it on, the dense faux fur offers an immediate sense of warmth and comfort. Once powered up, its heating performance is seriously impressive.

It’s not just about the super hot stuff though. Dreamland’s controller takes you through a scale of six heat settings, from a gentle, ambient warmth that takes the edge off a chilly evening to a powerful top setting that delivers full, reassuring heat in under five minutes. It’s a genuinely versatile throw that adapts effortlessly to everything from afternoon lounging to frosty nights.

Unboxing the Dreamland Hygge Days Faux Fur Warming Throw

The Dreamland Hygge Days Luxury Faux Fur Warming Throw arrives neatly packaged in a zipped, reusable storage bag. It’s far from disposable; you’ll want to keep hold of it for summer storage, whether tucked under the bed or in a linen cupboard.

Set-up is refreshingly simple. The throw arrives unplugged, so you’ll need to clip the lead into the discreet socket along the hem, a task that requires no force or specialist skill. The controller is intuitive, with clearly labelled buttons that allow you to toggle between six heat settings and three timer options: one hour, three hours, or nine hours. Everything is clearly displayed on the small screen, so you always know exactly what you’ve selected.

Even if you never turned it on, it’s an undeniably attractive throw. Draped over the end of a bed or styled across a sofa, it adds instant texture and visual warmth. For many homes, it will earn its place on display all year round.

What is the Dreamland Hygge Days Faux Fur Warming Throw like to use?

The moment I touched the fabric, I knew this was going to be a favourite. The top side is made from a velvety faux fur that feels beautifully soft against the skin, while the underside features a plush velvet with the softness of cotton wool. It’s so cosy, in fact, that I’ve often wrapped myself up in it without even using the heat function, always a strong indicator that the internal wires are fitted subtly. Yes, you can feel them if you go looking, but they’re flexible enough that you can comfortably curl up underneath without any awkward ridges.

When it came to performance testing, the speed and power genuinely surprised me. On the lowest heat setting, I felt a noticeable warmth, beyond what body heat alone could generate, in under five minutes. It’s a lovely, consistent temperature that adds gentle comfort without overwhelming you.

For snoozing, I found heat setting four paired with the one-hour timer to be the sweet spot: warm enough to make the room’s heating unnecessary, but not so hot that I overheated. On colder evenings, I tested the maximum setting (six) and, as someone who is famously cold and frequently returns from open-water swims with numb fingers, I found it wonderfully effective. Within nine minutes even my hands and feet were toasty. So yes, the temperature spectrum is genuine, distinct, and well-calibrated, ranging from subtly warm to deeply cocooning.

One of the things people always wish they knew before buying an electric blanket is whether it malts or sheds, especially with faux fur. That's actually my only criticism of this blanket. If you wear dark colours, you will notice a few strands appearing on your clothes, but it's nothing a lint roller can't help with.

The controller itself deserves its own praise. After two decades of using and testing electric blankets, Dreamland’s interface is the nicest I’ve encountered. The three-button system (power, heat, and timer) is beautifully straightforward, and the LED indicators respond instantly and clearly. It feels premium in hand and accurately mirrors the heat changes you feel in the throw.

The lowest heat setting is especially subtle. At first, you might assume the plush fleece is simply doing an excellent job at retaining body warmth, but no. It's the throw working quietly and efficiently in the background.

Cleaning the Dreamland Hygge Days Faux Fur Warming Throw

A luxurious heated throw inevitably needs cleaning from time to time, whether from hot chocolate spills, crumbs, or general household use. Thankfully, the Dreamland model is machine-washable.

The plug detaches cleanly from the throw, allowing you to pop it into the washing machine without drama. It’s a fuss-free process, and if you want extra guidance, we have a dedicated guide on how to clean an electric blanket.

How does the Dreamland Hygge Days Faux Fur Warming Throw compare?

Testing The White Company Faux Fur Heated Throw

In terms of competition, the Dreamland Hygge Days Faux Fur Throw goes head-to-head with one of the strongest rivals in the category: The White Company's Super Soft Faux Fur Heated Throw. Both are recent launches, sit at similar price points, and function beautifully as both décor and heating solutions, but there are differences in design and feel.

Dreamland leans into a more Scandi, rustic-cosy aesthetic. The animal-inspired prints and fur textures suit maximalist interiors, cottages, and hygge-inspired spaces. The controller, in my opinion, is the best currently on the market: intuitive, elegant, and satisfying to use.

The White Company's Super Soft Faux Fur Heated Throw, on the other hand, is tailored for minimalists. The faux fur is silkier, sheds noticeably less, and the muted colour palette is effortlessly chic. The velvet underside feels refined, and yes, you are paying a premium for The White Company branding, but the experience feels undeniably high-end.

Should you buy the Dreamland Hygge Days Faux Fur Warming Throw?

If you’re looking for a throw that adds tactile richness to your home while delivering exceptional warmth, the Dreamland Hygge Days Faux Fur Warming Throw is close to perfect. It functions as both a beautiful design piece and a high-performance heating essential. It truly offers everything you could want from a luxury heated throw.

My Danish friend gave it her seal of approval too. With its thick, sumptuous top layer and velvety plush underside, she was quick to get Googling for where she could buy one too.
