Inside the 'grounding' Princess Beatrice had from her parents growing up

Princess Beatrice has opened up about what it was like growing up in the media as she thanks her parents for the "grounding" they gave her and her sister, Princess Eugenie.

Growing up as part of the royal family, Princess Beatrice and her sister Eugenie had to learn pretty quickly the realities of being part of The Firm.

And she's thanked her parents, Prince Andrew and the Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, for providing such a "serious grounding" to help them handle growing up in the media spotlight.

Reflecting on what it was like growing up in the royal family and the scrutiny that can involve, Beatrice said, "“Growing up in the media, it’s...interesting.

“We’ve had some serious grounding from our parents. They’ve had their fair share of terrible media interest and it makes us stronger."

Despite their royal status, Beatrice revealed that having a support system is just as important to them as anyone else.

"We believe very strongly in who we are, and the support system of our friends and our family is pretty incredible," she explained. "There's no point being angry with anyone for beating us up – we just need to shine light and love in the world.”

Princess Beatrice tied the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a secret ceremony in July and the sweet way she spent her wedding eve proves just how down to earth the royal is.

Beatrice, 32, spent the evening before her wedding cosying up to her sister, Princess Eugenie, at their childhood home.

Eugenie delighted royal fans by giving them a glimpse of Beatrice's pre-wedding plans in a previously unseen picture.

Sharing the snap in honour of Beatrice’s birthday, Eugenie wrote, “Happy happy Birthday dear Beabea. Here we are on the eve of your wedding. Still rocking a scrunchie or hair accessory (since the 90s) and huge smiles on our faces. #happybirthday.”

In it the girls can be seen looking fresh-faced, in their comfy clothes at their childhood home, the Royal Lodge Windsor.
