Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge warn the public against ‘misinformation’ about Covid-19 vaccine

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have spoken out about the dangers of “rumors and misinformation” as they support people having vaccinations.

• The Duke of Cambridge has declared he and the Duchess “wholeheartedly” support people receiving Covid-19 vaccinations.
• In a recent video call, the Duke and Duchess warned against “misinformation” that often circulates on social media.

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge have opened up about their personal feelings when it comes to the Covid-19 vaccine. This comes after the Duke of Cambridge previously declared he was “proud” of his grandparents, the Queen and Prince Philip, for sharing news that they’d received the vaccine in January. Whilst last week Her Majesty went into more detail during a video call with health officials leading the deployment of the vaccine in the UK. 

She revealed that the jab “didn’t hurt at all” and called for people to “think of other people rather than themselves”.  Now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have spoken of their support for the vaccination in their latest video call. The royal couple spoke to Shivali, who has Type 2 Diabetes and was preparing to have the jabs. 

Shivali discussed how she had been anxious regarding the vaccination after reading negative social media posts. However, she went on to share that she had since been reassured by loved ones and Diabetes UK.

During the call, Prince William spoke of his and his wife’s feelings regarding the vaccine. 

"Catherine and I are not medical experts by any means but if it's any consolation, we can wholeheartedly support having vaccinations. It's really, really important,” he said.  

"We've spoken to a lot of people about it and the uptake has been amazing so far. We've got to keep it going so that the younger generations also feel that it's really important for them to have it. 

"So it's great that Shivali you're taking the time to work it out and come to the conclusion that ‘I need to do this' because social media is awash sometimes with lots of rumors and misinformation so we have to be a little bit careful who we believe and where we get our information from."

"Especially for those who are clinically vulnerable as well, it's so important that those vaccinations are done, so good luck," he concluded.

This comes after Prince William’s father, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall received their first vaccinations last month. The Prince of Wales was previously diagnosed with the virus and broke his silence on his coronavirus battle. 

Speaking last year, he explained that he felt “lucky” and that he had “got away with it quite lightly.”

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla recently visited Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham to thank those undertaking clinical trials for Covid-19 vaccinations.
