Prince Charles has supposedly ‘taken the lead’ with the royal response to his son Prince Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview.
- A royal expert has expressed his belief that Prince Charles was very involved with ‘how the Palace has responded’ to Prince Harry and Meghan’s interview.
- They suggest that he will be trying to ‘learn lessons from this’.
- In other royal news, ITV could air unseen footage from Prince Harry and Meghan’s Oprah interview.
It’s been suggested that Prince Charles has 'taken the lead' when it came to the Royal Family's response to his son Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s “tell-all” Oprah interview. The shocking special saw the Duke and Duchess of Sussex open up on royal life, having recently confirmed they will not be returning to the Royal Family as working royals.
During the conversation, Prince Harry claimed that his father the Prince of Wales stopped taking his calls after the couple revealed their plans to step back as senior royals last year. Harry went on to describe his father and brother as “trapped” in the royal institution - something some have since claimed was not his “place to say".
The special aired on Sunday, March 7 in the US and on Monday in the UK. Buckingham Palace went on to issue a statement about the interview on Tuesday, March 9.

According to The Mirror, royal expert Robert Jobson has now written a piece for Hello! magazine which reportedly stated his belief that Prince Charles likely had significant involvement in the palace's response.
‘I think the Prince of Wales has also taken the lead on how the Palace has responded’, he wrote.
‘The Queen is 94 and the Duke of Edinburgh is incapacitated, so he will be trying to placate and learn lessons from this so something can be worked out to everyone's satisfaction.'
Mr. Jobson continued: ‘The royal family like to do things as a team, and if the team is being trashed they like to react as a unit and a family.’

Following the airing of Oprah with Meghan & Harry, the royal family responded with an official Buckingham Palace statement that expressed sadness at learning how challenging recent years have been for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
It went on to state: 'The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
‘Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.’
Last week reports claimed that Prince Harry has now spoken to his father and brother since the interview aired, but that these talks were “not productive”.
However, it was suggested that they are “glad” to have “started a conversation”.
