Boxers or briefs? For Ricky Gervais, it’s neither.
The British comedian revealed that he hasn’t worn underpants in a year in a virtual interview with Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest. When the hosts asked about his wardrobe preferences while working from home, Ricky didn’t hold back on the details.
“I haven’t worn underpants for a year, there’s no point,” he said, sparking a rupture of applause from the remote audience.
The Emmy-award-winning TV star proceeded to give a rundown of his simple morning routine, which was noticeably lacking in a trip to his underwear drawers.
“I get up in the morning, I take my pajamas off, have a shower, pop on some sweatpants, and that’s it.”
Working from the comfort of his eight-bedroom mansion in Hampstead, London, Ricky didn’t seem too fazed by the restrictions on socializing.
“This is great,” he said. “Social distancing suits me, I never was a fan of hugging or people in general.”
While many people miss human touch right now, Ricky is just grateful that the coronavirus hasn’t affected our furry friends. The animal lover, who has been vegetarian for several years now, admitted he would be devastated if dogs could contract Covid-19.
“I prefer dogs. If they said dogs have got coronavirus, that would rock my world, then I’d be in trouble,” Ricky said.
It isn’t the first time Ricky has shared his misanthropic views. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in 2017, the unapologetic funnyman voiced his disdain for his fellow humans.
More from woman&home:
“We’re the worst. All human beings,” Ricky said. “I love animals. Human beings? Could take ’em or leave ’em.” His aversion to people is so severe that he refuses to do Meet and Greets after his performances. “I’m in the car before they’ve finished clapping,” he revealed. “I play venues where the car can get by the stage. I’m in my hotel room before they’re out of the venue.”
With his fondness for ditching underwear and general antipathy towards people, we have a feeling Ricky might never emerge from lockdown.
