The TV presenter turned novelist speaks out after fans alert her to the scam
Fern Britton has warned fans to be aware of scams after her face has been wrongfully used to promote CBD Oil and Bitcoin.
The novelist is furious to learn companies have been illegally using her face to promote their products / services and has pledged to take action.
The former This Morning host first learnt her face was the front of a marketing campaign when one fan alerted her that she had been scammed. The fan wrote, "@Fern_Britton scammed by cbd oil company using fern as there representative. Be aware."
How has Fern Britton responded?
And it prompted Fern, who recently filmed a celebrity version of Tipping Point, to look into the matter straight away. She warned all her Twitter followers, "I AM NOT A REPRESENTATIVE OF ANY CBD OIL PRODUCTS ! If you see them would you send me the add? My representatives will be on them !!"
Another fan reported that they had been duped into buying the items too. They wrote, "Aww that’s a shame cos I’ve just bought some thinking if Fern endorses it it must be ok, it’s the same one that Sir David Attenborough does, so I’m guessing he hasn’t endorsed it either."
To which Fern responded, "I would imagine so ! X"
What else has Fern Britton's face been used for in fake ads?
But it doesn't stop there. It's then that another fan warned, "I have seen your name being used for bit coin aswell fern x"
This is something else Fern was not aware of. She expressed her shock by writing, "Oh blimey ..."
Meanwhile fans not affected by the scams have lent their support to Fern for sorting it out. One added, "How awful that this sort of scam keeps happening. Such a cheeky thing to do. Hope you and your representatives get them sorted! Xx."
Fern is just the latest celebrity who's face has been used to promote the scams. Previously stars including Piers Morgan, Richard Branson and This Morning hostsHolly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have all been used by scammers for fake online ads.
