Last night marked the 92nd Academy Awards and it certainly didn’t disappoint on the glitz and glamour front, but one star in particular turned heads - British actress Olivia Colman.

The star stepped out onto the Oscars red carpet with a brand new hairstyle, pairing it with her Stella McCartney navy blue velvet gown.

Olivia sported a platinum blonde crop - a step away from her usual dark brown hair, which was seen at the BAFTAs just a week ago.

The man behind the new style - hair stylist Marcus Francis - took to Instagram to share a photo of her hair, with the caption, 'Blonde ambition. Nothing like a major change the DAY of the Oscars.'

While someone else wrote, 'Losing my mind over blonde Olivia Colman.'

Another commented, 'Olivia Colman looks GREAT as a blonde!'

Olivia's makeup - created by artist Sarah Uslan using No7 makeup - also perfectly complemented her new barnet. The star sported a creamy blush, black eyeliner and rosy pink lips - letting her platinum hair speak for itself.

During the ceremony, Olivia took to the stage to present the Best Actor award and made a hilarious joke about her husband.

Referring to her win last year for her role in The Favourite, the actress joked, “Hello, there. Thank you for having me back. It's such a pleasure to be here. Last year, was the best night of my husband's life.

"He actually says that. And I’ve given birth three times.

“So I hope you’re all having as good a time as he did. And I did.”

Olivia presented the Best Actor award to Joaquin Phoenix, for his performance in Joker.

It’s been a big year for Olivia Colman so far. Back in January, she won an Golden Globe for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth in Netflix's The Crown.
