We all love a bit of nostalgia, and the beauty department is no exception to the rule. According to MAC Cosmetics, sales of one specific make-up product have surged during lockdown, and it'll bring back memories of all your favorite 90s beauty trends.

MAC is of course the brand behind many an iconic 90s lip moment in history, from Cher's signature lip in Clueless to the exact lipstick Jennifer Aniston wore while filming Friends. Meanwhile, this shade is the most popular MAC red lipstick (and it may surprise you).

And while we'll probably leave space buns safely in that decade, some of the most popular beauty products of the 1990s are making a comeback in 2021.

The brand has just reported a surge in sales of one specific make-up product during the last 12 months, and it's giving us serious Rachel Green vibes. Can you guess which?

According to the brand, their lip pencils sold at a rate of 1,000 times per day in 2020, suggesting that we're all just as obsessed with a lined lip as we were in the 90s (if not more so).

More specifically, the cinnamon-pink Spice Lip Pencil is a best seller that sells eight times per hour, with dusky and brown shades Whirl, Cork and Stripdown also super popular.

How to use lip liner according to an expert

If you're jumping back on the lip liner bandwagon, MAC's national artist Carly Utting is here to share a few top tips for pulling it off. "To maximise the shape of your lips, always choose a lip liner slightly darker than your natural lip colour," she explains. "Always exfoliate and hydrate the lips first to create a smooth and plump surface to the lip. I love our iconic Lip Conditioner which contains sweet almond and avocado oil to lock in moisture.

"If you wish to enhance your pout, you can use lip pencil to slightly over-line your lips and add fullness. Start with a freshly sharpened pencil, start on the lip and gently push the line just outside out of your natural line – this will give the most natural result."

Well, there you have it!
