As if further proof of this haircut's appeal were needed, Elizabeth Olsen's curtain bangs made their debut at the virtual celebration release party for Disney+'s newest original series, Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Up until now, fans have increasingly associated Olsen with the redhead she plays in the hit Marvel movie series WandaVision.

But with a new TV project, it was a case of out with the old and in with the new. Unlike her character Wanda Maximoff, Olsen has now opted for espresso brown, shaggy hair with layers that is cut so that it just skims her shoulders. And the cherry on top? Those retro curtain bangs.

We first tapped into the trend for curtain bangs when Anne Hathaway's 'French girl' bangs sent social media into meltdown. The actress shared a shoot to promote her new HBO Max movie, Locked Down and immediately comparisons were being made to Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin.
Then The Serpent and Olivia Coleman's 70s-inspired bangs hit TV screens in the UK, cementing the return of this sexy brow-skimming style.
And if you're wondering whether bangs will suit you? Belle Cannan, Co-Founder of Salon Sloane (opens in new tab) told woman&home, "Pretty much everyone suits bangs, as long as it fits the face shape, jawline, and haircut. Long bangs are brilliant at accentuating the cheekbones or for brow skimming, whereas super short bangs work great on a French bob."
And it's not hard to understand their popularity. Now that wearing a mask is the new normal, bangs frame the face and draw attention to the eyes. Curtain bangs are also a very low-maintenance way to wear the trend as all it involves is splitting your fringe down the middle and sweeping the hair to each side.
Something tells us curtain bangs won't be going out of fashion any time soon. But for more inspiration, check out these celebrity fringe hairstyles.
