The Duke of Cambridge is thought to be spending lockdown with his wife Duchess Catherine and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall. With the country now in its third lockdown and restrictions in place, it’s understood that the family will be remaining there for the foreseeable future.
In light of this, it’s been revealed that Prince William is continuing to carry out important royal duties via video link, just as he often did last year.

What was Prince William’s lockdown meeting about?
According to a record made by The Court Circular, the official record of royal Family activities, Prince William had a lowkey meeting “via video link” for his environmental award project, the Earthshot Prize. It’s understood to have taken place on Tuesday January 12.
The Court Circular’s record read, ‘The Duke of Cambridge, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, this morning held a Meeting for the Earthshot Prize via video link.’
This is thought to be the second appearance made by Prince William this year. His first royal appearance was via video call to Homerton University Hospital staff, where he appeared in his role as joint patron of NHS Charities Together.
What is Prince William’s Earthshot Prize?
Prince William launched the ambitious environmental award, the Earthshot Prize, in October 2020 with Sir David Attenborough.

Every year from 2021 until 2030, The Earthshot Prize Council will award The Earthshot Prize to five winners, one per Earthshot. Five $1.3 million (£1million) prizes will be awarded each year for the next decade.

It is hoped that the prize will provide at least 50 solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems by 2030. The prize money will help support environmental and conservation projects which are agreed with the winners.
They will be judged not only by the Duke of Cambridge himself, but also by the wider Earthshot Prize Council. This council includes broadcaster and natural historian Sir David Attenborough, singer Shakira, Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, actor Cate Blanchett and football player Daniel Alves da Silva amongst many others.
The Earthshot Prize 2021 winners will be announced in London.
