Prince Harry has been accused of 'copy and pasting' Prince William's Church of Scotland Speech 2021 in his speech at the United Nations, as fans noticed some major parallels between the two addresses.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to New York City on Monday to attend a UN General Assembly in honor of Nelson Mandela Day, marking their first joint public appearance since the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June.
Guest of honor Prince Harry delivered a keynote speech during the two-hour-long informal meeting, taking to the podium of the iconic venue to address a small crowd on a number of pivotal issues - including the overturning of Roe V Wade and the climate emergency.
He also reflected on the legacy of Nelson Mandela, who became the first President of South Africa in 1994 after spending nearly three decades in prison for his anti-apartheid activism. After reflecting on Princess Diana's relationship with the late political leader, the 37-year-old shared his own personal affinity with Africa. Harry revealed Botswana as the place he discovered Meghan Markle was his 'soulmate', having spent a 'fantastic' five days camping with her 'under the stars.'
A video of Prince William's Church of Scotland Speech in 2021 went viral shortly after the Sussexes' New York outing, after royal fans noticed how similar it sounded to Prince Harry's UN address.
Harry's comments about Africa, which pull on the heartstrings with references to Princess Diana and the Duchess of Sussex, have drawn particular criticism for echoing those of the future King in his praise of Caledonia.

"Since I first visited Africa at 13 years old, I've always found hope on the continent. In fact, for most of my life, it has been my lifeline, a place where I have found peace and healing time and time again," Harry said, uttering words undeniably similar to those of his brother in Edinburgh just one year ago. William also spoke fondly of how the country had helped him find 'solace' after the 'dark days' of losing his mother, Diana, in 1997.
If that wasn't enough overlap for one day, William also credited the place for introducing him to his wife, Kate Middleton.
"It was here in Scotland, 20 years ago, that I first met Catherine," the 40-year-old said. "Needless to say, the time when you meet your future wife holds a very special place in your heart.”
The crossover between the two speeches has led to hefty criticism for Prince Harry, with some fans even accusing him of doing a 'copy and paste' job with his address.
"Is Netflix going to address the amount of Prince Harry's UN speech that was copied from his brother Prince William?" one person wrote.
"I knew I'd heard that before. It isn't the first time that he has copied William," another dismayed royal fan said.
