The Pink Moon is the given name to the fourth Full Moon of each calendar year. As it comes around the time of year when spring is springing, it's a lunation that brings plenty of growth, rebirth, and development.
During uncertain times, many have felt a lot of comfort in following the lunar cycle. All of the names given to each month in the Moon calendar have an extra special meaning, and this lunation's position after Spring Equinox brings great hope.
During March Full Moon 2022, or the Worm Moon as it's known, did you partake in any full moon rituals? If so, have you seen any of your manifestations grow, as buds and blossoms on branches and trees? Has your 2022 horoscope reflected anything in real life? Spring's new growth serves as an opportunity for newness, as manifested in the New Moon April 2022 has shown us.
Pink Moon meaning
Before you run out of the house hooping and hollering and thinking the sky is about to be filled with a big old pink ping-pong ball—hold your horses. Much as it saddens any lovers of all things rose-tinted, this Moon's name isn't because it's pink.
According to the Farmer's Almanac, each month's monicker comes from a number of places, including Native American, Colonial American, and European sources.
They claim that, "April’s Full Moon often corresponded with the early springtime blooms of a certain wildflower native to eastern North America: Phlox subulata—commonly called creeping phlox or moss phlox—which also went by the name moss pink.'"
Owing entirely to this seasonal association, April's Full Moon is known as the Pink Moon.
When is the Pink Moon?
April Full Moon 2022 is in Libra, and takes to the sky on April 16, 2022. The Pink Moon comes at a particularly charged time as it precedes a solar eclipse on April 30, 2022.
As the Pink Moon will be in Libra, during Aries season, these signs' energies should combine to help balance out any overly adventurous feelings and help you rest—in preparation for the growing season!
With any luck, its Libra energy will help us balance out fire sign Aries' adventurous spirit and get some rest during this exciting time of year.
