New Wordle spin-off Contexto promises to challenge even the smartest players

Wordle spin-off new game, Contexto, has delighted players who love Wordle but are looking for a challenge that's slightly more difficult.

Contexto is the most recent Wordle spin-off that word game fans are loving. The game is A LOT harder than your average Wordle game and requires a completely different type of thinking. Here's how to play the game and some tips and tricks that may help you improve...

How to play Contexto

Contexto is not a complicated game to understand, but it can be very tricky to get a good score! Like many Wordle spin-offs, the aim of the game is to guess the word that the bot has selected.  

However, in this game, the word is not just five letters long - it can be of any length. Once you have made your first guess, you will receive a score and a little bar will show up on the word. If it is a lower number with a green background, the word is a good guess and you are close to the real word! Amber and a higher score mean you are a bit further away, and a red bar and an even higher score mean you're not even close!

But how can you decide which words are close to each other? Unlike Wordle, this game is all about context and not about the format of the word. For example, on November 4, 2022, the correct answer for Contexto 47 was 'business.'

After analyzing a number of texts the algorithm decided that the words that were closely related to the word business were words like 'job' and 'grow.' In comparison, words like 'garden' and 'road,' were not very closely related to this word at all. 

Contexto allows players to have unlimited guesses, which means you can make this game as long or as short as you like. So long as you are able to think outside of the box and can try and think of creative themes that link the words, you could be on to a winner!
