Michelle Obama is teaming up with Netflix for a special type of cooking show
Along with some unique co-stars, Michelle Obama will be hosting a new cooking show for kids
Michelle Obama has just announced that she will be starring in a cookery show on Netflix. The series is aimed at children and will continue the healthy eating initiatives she started as First Lady.
Michelle Obama began various initiatives while she worked as FLOTUS and described this new venture as “an extension of my work to support children’s health as First Lady.” The cooking show is primarily aimed at children and will feature Michelle alongside some colorful puppets named Waffles and Mochi.
Michelle spoke about the new show on her Instagram, stating, “on March 16, we’ll be launching a new children’s show on Netflix called "Waffles + Mochi." It’s all about good food: discovering it, cooking it, and of course, eating it. These two will take us on adventures around the world to explore new ingredients and try out new recipes. Kids will love it, but I know that adults will also get plenty of laughs - and some tips for the kitchen.”

Michelle revealed that this is the exact type of show that she wished was available when raising her daughters Malia and Sasha. Michelle said, “to be quite honest, I wish a program like this had been around when my girls were young.”
She also revealed that she hopes that this show will entertain families during the pandemic as she is aware that the past year has been a struggle for many people. “ I also know that this is a difficult time for so many families, and I’m hopeful that this delightful show can bring a bit of light and laughter to homes around the world,” said Michelle.
Netflix has revealed the show's plot and has revealed that Michelle will be playing a shopkeeper in the new series. A Netflix press release states, “With the help of friendly new faces like Mrs. Obama, the supermarket owner, and a magical flying shopping cart as their guide, Waffles and Mochi blast off on global ingredient missions.”
