Want to smell delicious? Alison Hammond's under-£30 fragrance is a 'divine' blend of vanilla and cosy woods
Marrying decadent notes of vanilla with warm cashmere and sandalwood, Alison Hammond's perfume mist is perfect for autumn spritzing.
Few things signal the arrival of autumn (aside from the cold, of course) quite like the return of The Great British Bake Off. And in case all those sweet treats are making you crave equally delicious scents, its host, Alison Hammond, has dubbed this chic vanilla blend 'divine.'
When the seasons shift, we often find ourselves seeking out the cosiness of woody, long-lasting perfumes and rich gourmands. The latter genre has actually been dominating this year's fragrance trends, with no sign of slowing this autumn, and if you're in the market for one such sweet signature, there's an under-£30 perfume that Alison Hammond has previously sung the praises of. It blends decadent hints of vanilla with warming cashmere, and what better aroma to surround yourself with as you cosy up to watch the new series of Bake Off? Yes, actual freshly baked cakes would be great, but if you don't have those, this almost edible blend can scent the void at least.
This time last year, Hammond took to her Instagram to share an array of her beauty favourites with PHLUR's Vanilla Skin body and hair mist among the haul - and aside from being a cult favourite of PHLUR's perfumes, it's also just £26.
RRP: From £26 for 88ml | Notes: pink pepper, pink apple, sugar crystals, lily, jasmine petals, cashmere wood, benzoin, vanilla, sandalwood and agarwood
Layering sugary notes with delicate florals and cosy woods, PHLUR's Vanilla Skin is the epitome of an elevated autumn scent. It's sweet, but not excessively so. It's grounded by soft, muskier notes, which lend it that 'Skin'-like feel. Like the best Sol de Janeiro scents, it can also be used as both a hair and body mist and right now, it's 20% off at SpaceNK.
According to The Mirror, in the video that Hammond shared to her Instagram in October, 2025 (which the publication was able to screenshot), she labelled the musky, vanilla blend 'absolutely divine.'
Having smelt it ourselves, we couldn't agree with that description more. It's such a warm, cosy sort of fragrance, and Digital Beauty Writer Naomi Jamieson also makes a case for the brand's Peach Skin iteration. "As its name suggests, this scent really does capture the fuzzy softness of a peach's skin in its notes - it's juicy and warm, but not sickly sweet like some fruity perfumes can be."
Despite being body mists, PHLUR's 'Skin' range boasts impressive staying power and can also double as hair fragrances, which makes them a lovely option for layering. If you have a favourite vanilla perfume, for instance, adding this Vanilla Skin mist to your hair will afford yet another level of sweetness and luxury.
Though they feel especially apt for the autumn/winter season, vanilla-centric scents can be worn year-round. The fact that you can layer Vanilla Skin or wear it as a lighter hair perfume makes it all the more versatile to have in your collection. And for just £26 for 88ml, it's quite the bargain. You can also find it in parfum form at SpaceNK for £99 if you want more intensity and longevity.
