It's true that fragrance can be very expensive, but if you're willing to let go of those designer names, an affordable and surprisingly luxe-smelling blend can be yours. In fact, our beauty team have 12 under-£30 perfumes they really rate.

Okay, yes, you can't bag a bottle of Chanel for 30 quid, and many of the best long-lasting perfumes are on the more premium side, but that doesn't mean the array of popular cheap scents can't hold their own against the pricier ones. M&S' and Zara's perfumes, for instance, are touted for their chic notes and similarities to more luxury blends. We have also come across many more under-the-radar options that are both inexpensive and boast impressive sillage - you just need to know where to find them.

So, if you're seeking a blend that smells great but doesn't make you feel like you have to ration it because of its price, we can help you there. Our beauty team have each shared the three under-£30 scents they really like - and recommend for their staying power and compliment count.

The under-£30 perfumes our beauty team say rival luxury ones

Naomi's 3 under-£30 perfume picks

Digital Beauty Writer, Naomi Jamieson, for one, loves Gisou's Honey Dewy hair and body mist, which costs £27 for quite a good-sized bottle. She's also recently discovered the Korean perfume brand Anillo and has been really smitten with their Shower Time scent, which is £21 and blends rainy notes of muguet, pepper, incense and cedar - ideal for a new autumnal fragrance.

Fiona's 3 under-£30 perfumes picks

From under-the-radar French perfumes to a fruity-floral perfume oil from The Body Shop, Digital Beauty Channel Editor, Fiona McKim, knows a thing or two (or three, we should say) about affordable, chic scents.

Aleesha's 3 under-£30 perfumes picks

Digital Beauty Editor Aleesha Badkar has cracked the code on travel sizes that are actually worth the spend. Merit's Retrospect, for instance - the formula is an extrait, meaning it's very concentrated, so a little goes a long way. Boots have also launched their very own scent line, and she loves the new Soft Island Drift fragrance, with its sparkling notes of banana flower, pear, coconut, apple blossom and musk.

Sennen's 3 under-£30 perfumes picks

It's a clean high-street sweep for Digital Beauty Writer Sennen Prickett's under-£30 favourites, with a ZARA, & Other Stories and M&S perfume winning a spot in her scent collection. The latter is part of Marks and Spencer's newer Studio collection and marries rich, warm notes of tonka bean, tobacco and vanilla - another lovely option as we head into autumn.
