Heidi Scrimgeour
Heidi is a senior editor and ecommerce specialist with more than two decades of experience in the UK media industry. Joining Future in 2021, she oversees consumer content and commerce strategy within the lifestyle sector, focusing on rigorous, hands-on product testing, objective buying guides, and market round-ups designed to help readers make practical, informed purchasing decisions.
Her editorial background includes a 15-year career as an independent freelance journalist. During this period, she established regular bylines across the UK’s leading national broadsheets, including The Guardian, The Times, and The Telegraph. Her work has also appeared extensively in major lifestyle and consumer magazines such as Psychologies, Red, Glamour, and Grazia.
Additionally, Heidi spent six years as the Shopping Editor for Mother & Baby, where she managed commercial content, curated product selections, and developed a deep specialism in consumer journalism.
Leveraging her industry experience, Heidi is also a trained coach and the founder of dedicated online courses for freelance journalists. Through these programs, she provides practical training on how to navigate the media landscape, understand editorial requirements, and master commercial pitching strategies.
A former lifestyle columnist for AOL, one of her pieces was the featured text in a GCSE English exam. Heidi’s work has sparked lively debates, with appearances on ITV’s This Morning, BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour - where she defended Harper Beckham’s use of a dummy - and mentions on Loose Women, as well as being shared by Richard Branson.
Heidi lives on the North Coast of Ireland with her husband and their three children, plus an excessively fluffy cat and an irrepressibly energetic dog. She loves beach walks, espresso martinis, and being left in peace with a good book.
