At woman&home, we test everything we recommend on real women, because real life doesn’t happen in a lab with carefully controlled conditions - it happens on rainy days, long walks, and last-minute dashes out the door when the weather turns. That’s exactly why our Tester Network exists: to put the latest products into the hands of real women over 40, matched not just by size or style, but by real lifestyle needs.

We asked Dawn to put these boots through their paces to see whether they kept her feet warm and dry without sacrificing style. The result? A surprisingly impressive winter boot that might just change your opinion about snow footwear.

Style

This is where the UGG MetroPeak Boot really sets itself apart. While most snow boots lean heavily into function, these manage to feel head-turningly stylish - something Dawn loved straight away.

“The boots are beautiful, but also practical and well worth the money," she says. “The design is amazing, especially the striking pale blue colour. It really elevates the boot from being useful to stylish and desirable.”

Importantly, they look better in real life than they do online. “When I had a peek at them on the UGG website, I thought they looked rather bulky, but they are much more attractive in real life,” she says

The design also proves surprisingly versatile, and you can wear the boots in three ways: worn up, slouched down, or folded over. "They work with everything from fitted trousers to wide-leg jeans,” according to Dawn.

That flexibility makes them far easier to integrate into everyday wardrobes than most snow boots, which often feel like a compromise. Still, the blue won’t be for everyone. If you prefer something understated, you may prefer the more neutral colourways.

Design

With waterproof GORE-TEX protection and a weather rating as low as -32°C, this is a seriously high-performance winter boot, all wrapped up in the sort of striking, stylish design that you'd expect from UGG.

Inside, UGG’s signature plush lining and 3M™ Thinsulate™ insulation keep your feet warm no matter how bitter the cold. Outside, waterproof leather and a GORE-TEX™ membrane fend off snow and rain, while a Vibram® ICETREK outsole ensures reliable traction and performance in harsh winter conditions.

From recycled textiles and upcycled wool to a plant-based PU footbed, UGG has really considered sustainability. And while Dawn didn’t get full snow conditions during testing, the grip and stability still held up fantastically well - a good sign for those tough New York winters.

There are also thoughtful usability details that make a difference - Dawn found the boots very easy to put on due to an in-built pull tab. And overall, the quality feels built to last, from the stitching to the sole - exactly what you’d expect at this price point.

Comfort & support

If there’s one area where these boots really stand out, it’s comfort, and not just in a 'they’ll do' kind of way. Dawn immediately noticed the difference compared to her previous winter footwear: “They are much more comfortable than my Trespass Kenna insulated winter boots. They appear to be warmer, too".

That warmth comes from UGG’s signature plush lining combined with Thinsulate insulation, and it shows in real-world wear. “The UGG plush linings are both comfortable and warm, something which I haven’t found in similar boots," adds Dawn.

What’s particularly impressive is how consistent that comfort feels over time. “I imagine they will be just as comfortable, if not more, in the coming months.”

Despite their rugged build, they don’t feel heavy or clunky either. “They are sturdy but still lightweight and beautiful.”

Fit-wise, there are no surprises.“They are a perfect fit for me," says Dawn. "So I would recommend ordering your usual shoe size."

Cleaning

Winter boots take a beating - mud, salt, rain, slush - so ease of cleaning really matters in day-to-day life.

Thankfully, this is another area where the MetroPeak delivers. The waterproof construction means dirt doesn’t cling or soak in, making upkeep refreshingly simple:

“They are very easy to keep clean, which is a godsend in rainy/snowy weather," Dawn says. "Maintenance is minimal - just a quick wipe of the waterproof base to keep them clean.”

That low-effort maintenance is a genuine benefit for busy routines - no special products, no time-consuming care, just a quick wipe and you’re done.

Verdict

The UGG MetroPeak Boot is a rare thing: a winter boot that genuinely delivers on both performance and style. It’s warm, waterproof, comfortable and easy to maintain - but crucially, it doesn’t look like a typical snow boot. And that’s what makes it stand out.

At £270, it’s undeniably an investment. But based on real-world testing from someone who actually relies on winter footwear, it earns its place in the premium category.

For anyone tired of choosing between function and fashion in cold-weather footwear, this could easily be a game-changer - and a strong contender for the best snow boots you can buy.
