If quarantine has taught us anything, it’s to either embrace our greys or find ingenious ways to blend the regrowth out. Enter L'Oreal Purple Shampoo and Purple Mask.

Two-tone hair and grown-out highlights are the unfortunate side kicks to quarantine. So until hairdressers open again, purple-based haircare is our go-to.

The L'Oreal Elvive Colour Protect Anti-Brassiness Purple Mask sold out when the quarantine first came into force last April and became a firm favorite of beauty editors, but now it is back in stock and available for delivery.

Put simply, yellow and purple sit opposite each other on the colour wheel so a violet-hued shampoo protects against dullness and unwanted warm tones between colour appointments.

But if your hair also needs extra nourishment, a weekly purple mask is a better solution. As well as being heavily pigmented, L'Oreal Paris Elvive Colour Protect Anti-Brassiness Purple Mask also floods strands with hydrating coconut oil.

On blondes or highlighted hair, the purple mask neutralizes the yellow, leaving a creamy to ash result. It can even be used on dyed brown hair. Everything from heat damage to hard water can cause the hair cuticle to become porous, resulting in color fade. This, in turn, exposes, red or brassy tones in the hair.

No matter your shade, the effect on greys is the same: by keeping the color on the cooler spectrum and adding in a toning factor, strands look fresher and any grey regrowth looks less obvious.
