Duchess Camilla’s intimate gesture towards Meghan Markle revealed acceptance into royal family

A royal biographer noted that when Duchess Camilla held Meghan Markle’s hand at a royal engagement, the Duchess of Cornwall was signaling to onlookers that Meghan was accepted into the royal family.

Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry stepped down as senior royals in March 2020 and moved to the US. The couple announced on Twitter, "After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution."

"We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."

This action caused mayhem within the royal family and led to Prince Charles having heartbreaking regrets over Prince Harry and Meghan's exit from the UK.

However, before 'Megxit' royal experts claim that Meghan has well and truly been welcomed into the royal family and accepted as a royal.

Royal biographer, Andrew Morton, writes in his updated biography Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, that the Duchess of Cornwall made a sweet public gesture that showed Meghan's place in the royal family in 2018.

The author said, “On 22 May 2018, when the Duchess of Cornwall, the future queen consort, held the hand of the new Duchess of Sussex during a garden party to celebrate Prince Charles’s seventieth birthday at Buckingham Palace, this rare royal gesture was a sign of how quickly the American actor had been accepted and treated with genuine affection by the Royal Family."

Andrew continued to say, “On that day, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who had previously advised Kate Middleton on the finer points of protocol during her royal apprenticeship, was, without saying a word, signaling to the watching world that Meghan was now ‘one of us’."

This event took place at the Prince Of Wales' 70th Birthday Patronage Celebration in May 2018. This was just days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding at Windsor Castle on 19 May 2018.

The gesture was snapped by royal photographers who were invited to the event to capture the celebrations for Prince Charles. The two duchesses appeared to be deep in conversation as Camilla held her step-daughter-in-law's hand as Prince Harry stood close by.

This was a moment witnessed by many onlookers and was a clear indication of Meghan's acceptance into the royal family.

Despite this sweet gesture, and acceptance into the family. It is rumoured that Prince Harry and Meghan have a damaged relationship with Harry's father and stepmother. Duchess Camilla and Prince Charles have still not met their granddaughter Lilibet, who was born in 2021 in the US.

Although Lilibet and Archie are two of the Queen's 12 great-grandchildren and are seventh and eighth in the royal line of succession, because of the pandemic the children have spent very little time in the UK or with the extended royal family.
