Adele's Las Vegas residency will undeniably delight her fans, but it's the superstar's son Angelo who's likely to reap the most benefits.

After weeks of speculation surrounding Adele’s 30 tour, the British superstar has finally announced when, and perhaps more importantly, where, her highly-anticipated 2022 concerts will take place.

The Easy on Me singer will take to the stage in Las Vegas for two live shows every weekend from January to April, after signing her first-ever residency with the iconic Colosseum of the Caesars Palace Hotel.

The news of the exciting series, which is aptly titled, Weekends with Adele, comes just a month after tickets for Adele’s Hyde Park concerts, which will go ahead this July, sold out in mere minutes.

Hype around Adele’s 30 album has been intense (to say the least) ever since it was first teased back in September, and now that the record has been met by an overwhelmingly positive reception, fans are desperate to see its tracks performed live.

Adele has drummed up a thunderous amount of interest in her fourth studio album over the past few months, speaking candidly in interviews about her divorce from Simon Konecki and her new relationship with US sports agent Rich Paul.

The 33-year-old has also shared honest details about her experience of motherhood, revealing she suffered from postpartum depression after giving birth to her first child in 2012. While Adele’s son, Angelo Adkins, lives a (relatively) private life away from the media’s glare, recordings of his sweet voice can be heard in My Little Love, the album’s third track.

“I don’t share very much of my life, I normally really only share my music,” Adele revealed. “And people have been so curious about where I’m going and where I’m at, just in my life, not in terms of being nosy but just like, ‘I hope she’s ok’...I just thought it was a really important song that I wanted to capture people’s imagination as much as possible, that’s why I put me and Angelo in it.”

Why Adele's Las Vegas residency could be good news for her son Angelo

Adele’s powerful bond with her nine-year-old son is likely a major factor in her decision to base her upcoming live shows in Las Vegas, rather than commit to a traditional world tour.

The Tottenham native has never been shy about her struggles with traveling long distances to perform, even hinting during a 2017 concert in Auckland that she might give up the gig altogether at some point.

“Touring isn’t something I’m good at,” she confessed to the New Zealand audience. “Applause makes me feel a bit vulnerable. I don’t know if I will ever tour again. The only reason I’ve toured is you. I’m not sure if touring is my bag.”

At the time of this statement, Adele’s son was just four years old. It’s understood that the superstar struggled to be away from her family during the hectic tour, which saw her play a total of 121 shows on three different continents. She posted a heartfelt note to fans on her Instagram towards the end of the journey, reiterating her previous sentiments about the jet-setting part of her job.

“Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn't suit me particularly well. I'm a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus I'm dramatic and have a terrible history of touring,” she said. “I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don't know if I'll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.”

A weekend Las Vegas residency, which would allow her to easily commute back and forth to her Los Angeles home to be with Angelo during the week, seems like the perfect solution for the tour-phobic musician. And with the show's schedule limited to Fridays and Saturdays, it also means that her son will be able to accompany her to Sin City without missing school.

Sounds like the best of both worlds to us!

Tickets for Weekends with Adele go on general sale on 7 December at 10 am, with a Verified Fan Presale period granting priority to early birds.
