Call the Midwife star Helen George has announced she is pregnant with her second child, sharing the special news alongside a gorgeous Instagram photo.

The actress, best known for playing the role of Nurse Trixie Franklin in the BBC period drama, set in East London in the 1950s, took to the social media platform to upload a stunning bump shot.

Looking glowing in a floral summer dress, a pair of statement cat-eyes sunglasses and a cool pair of white trainers, Helen smiled at the camera for the sweet pregnancy reveal picture.

Captioning the post, she simply penned, "Baking number 2. Due in December."

Helen and her partner Jack Ashton are already parents to a little girl named Wren Ivy, welcoming their first born in 2017.

Jack has also starred in Call the Midwife and the pair met while filming for the hit show in South Africa, back in 2016.

Helen and her ex-husband, Oliver Boot, split in 2015 after four years together, shortly after competing on Strictly Come Dancing, leaving fans wondering if the infamous Strictly curse had struck again.

With Helen and Jack set to be parents to baby number two by the end of the year, the actress reminisced on time with a newborn when she posted a beautiful photo for Mother's Day recently.

As the UK celebrated Mothering Sunday in March, Helen treated her followers to a precious glimpse of her at the start of motherhood.

"Happy Mother’s Day to you all, to the mothers, daughters, want to be mothers, about to be mothers and no longer with us mothers. After a pretty shitty week for women, I am thinking of you all," Helen penned, sharing a touching selfie of her and Wren as a tiny baby.
