Coast Spring/Summer 2017: The Perfect Occasionwear Collection

Coast

Be inspired to get glamorous with Coast's beautiful new collection

When you've got a special occasion coming up - whether that be a wedding, party or even the races - it's only natural to want a killer outfit that's going to turn heads. But if your budget doesn't quite stretch to the designer gowns our favourite celebrities wear on the red carpet, you can find the next best thing on the high street instead. Thank goodness for Coast, who have got us covered once again!

This season, they've opted for flattering cuts in wearable colours, and have experimented with new, head-turning patterns - we think it might just be their best offering yet.

Whether you've set aside plenty of time to find the perfect ensemble or are having to do some last-minute browsing, chances are you'll probably end up at Coast. The high street store has had the monopoly on affordable evening wear for as long as we can remember, and if the new season collection is anything to go by, its style crown won't be slipping any time soon.

Taking centre stage for us at W&H is this cold shoulder blouse. Incorporating two of this seasons must have trends (cut out shoulder and ruffles), this white blouse with black lining is a holiday essential that we can't wait to get our hands on.

Continuing the cold shoulder motif, this yellow dress is ideal for a summery wedding. The soft shift sleeves gives your upper arms that touch of coverage we all need. The hanker-chief hem lined with lace is a great detail that'll look amazing when spinning around on the dance floor. Team with a cream hat and court shoes.

Move over dresses, as this season it's all about the jumpsuit. Be fashion forward and brave a trendy culotte one for your next special occasion. The shorter finish on the legs won't over-power a smaller frame, while the fitted waist to show off an hourglass figure. Get some extra coverage and layer over a crisp white blazer.

C'mon, it's time to step out of your comfort zones and take more fashion risks, enter the maxi skirt. It is actually totally flattering if you have a curvier bottom and hips as is won't cling to your sides. Plus it is a total attention seeker, so it will deflect eyes away from other areas, like your arms or a bigger bust.

For something more under-stated, this entire outfit is the one for you. In forever chic black and white, this ensemble screams grown up glamour. The coat especially is one of our fave's, as the longer back is ideal for concealing your thighs and bum.

Forget Joseph's multi coloured coat; this maxi dress from Coast is a thing of dreams. Vertical stripes completely streamlines your entire silhouette, meaning you will look longer and slimmer. What more could you ask for?

This entire look in-corporates two occasion-wear staples that we just can't get enough of: a sheer shirt and statement midi skirt. Let's start with the skirt, bold and beautiful with a wonderful swoosh effect, so ideal for dance floor twirling. The midi length means that it will cover all of the bits that most women aren't a huge fan of, (bum, thighs and sides), whilst showing off slimmer calves and ankles. Sheer shirts are also wonderful for revealing and concealing all at the same time. Plus the flared sleeves on this black one gives your entire look that extra bit of oomph.

Pink florals and cut to enhance an hour-glass shape, this dress is an occasion wear classic. Staying on trend with large graphic florals, this dress also incorporates the forever flattering in and out style. Amp it up with some darker pink heels and a lip to match.
