As one of the most famous couples in the world, it's rare that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would have many moments to themselves when out on royal duties.
During their recent autumn tour around Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, the couple were met by crowds of fans every day – and given their royal status, are always flanked by aides, security and press.
But towards the end of their 16-day long trip, it seems the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were keen to share a private moment to themselves.
On their last engagement of the tour, they headed to the Redwoods Treewalk in Rotorua, where they walked through the lush green canopy.
And royal reporter Omid Scobie has revealed how the pair snuck off for a moment alone, to take a special picture of Meghan cradling her growing baby bump against the stunning natural backdrop, which they later shared on the Kensington Palace Instagram account.
Posting on his Twitter account, Omid revealed that Harry and Meghan left behind their aides, press and security, to walk ahead on their own – presumably, keen to catch and enjoy a private moment before returning home. And it was then that Harry took the adorable photo of the pregnant Duchess.
Omid wrote, ‘At the end of our last tour engagement, Harry and Meghan walked ahead of their team, security and myself (who was the pool reporter). We were in the beautiful Whakarewarewa Forest and they wanted a moment to themselves. This photo, taken by Harry, was the result of that moment…’
Royal fans were delighted by the snapshot of the couple’s intimate moment, with one commenting on the post, ‘I love that they shared this photo.’
Another fan also said, ‘Such a beautiful moment!’
In the comments section, Omid also revealed that Harry took the photo on his own personal iPhone. But it’s not the first image taken by the Duke or Duchess to be publically shared during the tour.
Ahead of the Invictus Games closing ceremony, Kensington Palace shared a picture of Prince Harry on the ceremony’s stage, taken by none other than his wife, Meghan. It’s thought that the Duchess also used her personal iPhone to take pictures.
The Duke and Duchess have now made their way back home to London, where they’ll return to their Nottingham Cottage house in the Kensington Palace grounds.
After a busy few weeks, Prince Harry’s next confirmed engagement will be on 8th November, when he will visit the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey.
