As the world celebrates yet another royal Cambridge baby, the Duke and Duchess are happily settling back into home life with their newborn boy in tow.
After leaving the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital yesterday, the couple headed straight back to Kensington Palace, to start their life as a family of five.
But despite having just given birth, Catherine still made sure to pay some special tributes with a significant outfit choice.
The Duchess opted for a stunning red, sleeved Jenny Packham dress, one of her all-time favourite designers. It’s the designer she has turned to before for her ‘leaving hospital’ outfit, with both Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The red dress, with a white, detailed collar, however, also rang a bell in a different way for many royal fans.
Onlookers noticed that the dress bared a striking resemblance to the outfit chosen by Princess Diana, after she made her appearance on the very same steps after welcoming Prince Harry in 1984.
It seems perhaps the Duchess of Cambridge was keen to pay a subtle tribute to her late mother-in-law, as they welcomed what would have been her third grandchild into the world.
Other fans also picked up on the fact that Catherine chose some rather patriotic colours to celebrate the birth of her third child.
The new – not yet named – royal Cambridge baby was of course born on St. George’s Day. So it seems fitting that Catherine opted for a symbolic red and white outfit for her time out on the steps – the very colours of the English flag.
During the adorable photocall on Monday, where the Duke and Duchess shared their new bundle of joy with the world for the first time, some keen onlookers also picked up on the conversation between the couple.
And it seems that new mum-of-three Catherine was a little concerned about her newborn, worrying that the windy conditions would leave him too cold.
A lip-reader, speaking to the Mirror, managed to pick up on snippets of the couple’s conversation.
Reportedly, William asked his wife, “Are you okay with him?” to which Catherine replied with a smile, “Yes.”
According to the publication, William then pointed out veteran royal photographer, Arthur Edwards, who has photographed the family many times over the years.
And many are suggesting that William’s excitement to see the photographer could provide a heavy hint as to the name of his new baby…
He apparently said, “Look, there he is, Arthur. Over there”, prompting the couple to wave to him.
Reportedly, Catherine then continued to gesture to the right, saying, “Let’s just wave over there.”
But after the Duke and Duchess had been outside for some time, Catherine said, gesturing to their new baby, “It’s a bit windy. He might get cold. Let’s go now,” to which William happily replied, “Sure”.
The pair then zoomed off back home, to enjoy their newborn son.
Congratulations to the whole family!
