The FLOTUS Jill Biden has sent Michelle Obama a delicious gift. But could this gift be more significant than it seems?

Dr. Jill Biden has held the position of FLOTUS for two weeks and has already reached out to former FLOTUS Michelle Obama with a lovely gesture.

Picking vegetables from the White House Kitchen Garden, Jill sent Michelle a basket of fresh leafy greens and root vegetables. The former FLOTUS took to Instagram to post the gift and said, “So thankful for this beautiful care package from our amazing @FLOTUS! These fresh veggies from the White House Kitchen Garden were such a wonderful - and delicious - surprise. Love you, Jill!”

Jill replied to this social media post and commented, "Food is love," with a green heart emoji. Jill told People in her first interview since becoming the first lady, "we've [The FLOTUS and President Joe Biden] already eaten vegetables out of the garden!"

She continued, "the other day, I went down to the kitchen and they had a big bowl full of cauliflower and radishes. The garden is going strong!"

The gesture may demonstrate Jill's attempt to continue Michelle's work and the Obama administration in the White House and honor their legacy. Jill nourishes the metaphorical seeds that Michelle planted during the Obama administration from 2009-2017 when Michelle was the first lady and Jill was the second lady. The basket of vegetables is symbolic of her work continuing into 2021.

One fan commented, "This is so cute!!! What a fun reminder that your legacy is ongoing!" another agreed and said, "She is sharing the bounty of what you planted. So wonderful it is being nurtured once more."

Michelle Obama first started the White House garden’s South Lawn almost 12 years ago. That was part of Michelle’s healthy eating initiative when she held the position of First Lady. Michelle also wrote a book about this initiative in 2011 titled American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America, to document this campaign.

Fans are also loving the friendship between the FLOTUS and former FLOTUS. One fan commented, “This post makes me so happy! Yay for love and friendship!” Another said, “I’m sobbing over my favorite First Ladies supporting each other in healthy ways.”
