The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker Bowles, has shared a photo of her enjoying a very relatable pastime—reading a book! A total bookworm from a young age, reading has long since been Duchess Camilla’s childhood hobby.
The image in question is of Camilla sitting contentedly on a bench, luxuriating in the glory of her lush garden surroundings.
Although it's not clear where the photo was taken, they're unlikely to be in their London residence Clarence House as, usually, the royal family decamps to Balmoral Castle in the summer months.
Prince Charles is famously a keen gardener and passionate about all things natural, so it's fantastic to see that not only does Camilla share his love of outside space—but that she's making the most of it too!
The photo's caption reads, "My idea of perfection is sitting in a garden on a lovely evening with a book" - HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. What is your idea of book-ish perfection?"

Her loyal fans were delighted when she started an online book club and in response to her question regarding reading perfection, they were quick to share theirs.
One user said, "Dog lying on my feet, pile of books by my side ❤️." Another added, "Earl grey tea, jammy, buttery crumpets, and under a woolly blanket - bring on the autumn evenings! 🍂 📖"
The club, which is called The Reading Room, is in its third season and platforms not only the books it features but the writers behind them too.
The British Royal Family's website says, "Inspired by the success of Her Royal Highness's reading lists shared during the pandemic in 2020, the Reading Room channel offers new seasons of book recommendations, as well as exclusive insight from the authors themselves, in a community space for book lovers of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds."
So far the Reading Room has featured work from authors including Edna O'Brien, Antoine Laurain, Elif Shafak, Hillary Mantel, and Kazuo Ishiguro.
