Greg Wise says Robert Webb was 'heroic' to quit Strictly

Greg Wise has spoken up and defended Robert Webb's decision to leave Strictly Come Dancing after the actor quit the competition because of health concerns.

Robert Webb left Strictly just last week after announcing that his health issues prevented him from participating in the competition. Although many felt disappointed when the actor quit the show, Greg Wise has come to the actor's defence and labeled the move, 'heroic.'

In an interview with Radio Times, Greg Wise who was the latest contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing, said that Robert Webb was brave to prioritise his health over the show. The actor said, "I mean, it’s horrible every week anyway now because someone has to leave the show even if they’re healthy.

"I said to Robert that he was doubly heroic because he took this on heroically and then said, ‘I have to stop now,’ heroically. It took a lot of courage for him to be able to say, ‘You know what, my body is just now calling time on all of this.”

Robert Webb announced in a press release, " I’m extremely sorry to have to announce that I’m withdrawing from Strictly Come Dancing due to ill health.

"Two years ago I had open-heart surgery and although I believed I was fit enough to take on Strictly and its demanding schedule, it became clear that I had bitten off way more than I could chew for this stage in my recovery."

Robert and his dance partner Dianne Buswell were one of the fan's favorite Strictly Come Dancing 2021 couples, so many were disappointed when Robert announced he would be dropping out. Since leaving Strictly, Robert Webb has revealed the show was 'weird' and 'brutal'

Greg Wise was also recently booted from the Strictly Come Dancing series after he and his dance partner Karen Hauer danced a Samba to the song Macarena.

Following his exit from the show, Greg shared a statement on Instagram where he said, "Hello my lovely friends. So it happened, I got booted out, fair enough. I don't think I'm a dancer really and by this point in the show, you gotta be good. Everyone is dancing so well, it would only have been a matter of time anyway."

The actor has now taking a well deserved break and settling back into normal life with his wife of nearly two decades, Emma Thompson.
