Alex Rodriguez speaks out for the first time since J.Lo and Ben Affleck reunion

Talk about awkward

Alex Rodriguez is finally speaking out after news of his ex-fiancée Jennifer Lopez cozying up with Ben Affleck got out.

Less than a month after the couple called off their engagement officially, J. Lo has been reportedly spending more time with another past ex: Ben Affleck. The superstar pair, who went down in Hollywood history as one of the most iconic couples of all time after dating in the early 2000s, was recently rumored to have gone on a ski vacation together in Montana.

While most of us are speculating over whether or not "Bennifer" is rekindling their romance, Alex had a few words to say over her and Ben potentially getting back together.

In a video obtained by Page Six, Alex was seen outside of a restaurant in Miami when he was asked about his feelings towards the Bennifer reunion.

As the former MLB player exited his car with his assistant, he was asked, "What do you think about the news about Jennifer and Ben?" To which he responded, "Go Yankees!" with a smile.

While it may seem innocent, the past Yankees player was subtly taking a jab at the actor. Ben is a well-known Red Sox fan, so much so that at one point, it was a topic of tension between him and J.Lo back when they were engaged.

"You can't ask somebody who's born in the Bronx not to root for the Yankees, but you can ask them to do it downstairs," he was quoted saying at the time. "It's not a topic that creates a lot of harmony at home."

According to InStyle, the Justice League actor holds such disdain for the Yankee's that he even refused to wear a hat supporting the team back when he was filming Gone Girl.

It may seem as if Alex has a more carefree attitude towards the coupling, but in fact, sources have told E! News that he's "saddened" over how quickly J.Lo moved on.

"He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect," the source told the outlet. "He has been reaching out to J.Lo trying to meet with her, and she has been very short with him."

Before the couple had split for the final time, Alex and J.Lo had tried to go to therapy in an effort to repair their relationship. Hope had been reignited for the couple making things work, especially after J.Lo opened up about how therapy affected her relationship, but ultimately, she found that due to the strains put on the relationship from COVID-19 and the rumors of him cheating on her, she just could not get to a place where she could fully trust him.

Ben has always been a friend to her though throughout the years, and now that she's officially back on the market, it looks to be that the two are rekindling their romance, which fans had thought extinguished 17 years ago.
