Why you can trust Woman & Home

This has sold out almost everywhere, but it's still in stock on Shark's very own website. It's available in glacier, charcoal, blue, and pink. You can thank me later.
Summer's heating up and everyone is scrambling for the perfect breeze. More specifically, everyone is scrambling for the Shark FlexBreeze. It's been the talk of TikTok, Instagram, and our office, but it's sold out everywhere now. Or, at least that's what everybody thinks.
As a our Homes eCommerce Editor, I'm good at sniffing out stocks and savings on sought-after products, especially ones that help us sleep in the heat. This fan has been all everyone talks about, so when I watched it sell out on Amazon Prime Day, I knew I had to source one for the team, especially since the summer is showing no signs of cooling down.
Not only have I found you a stockist, I've also found somewhere that's offering 25% off the price. And, shockingly, it's being sold by Shark themselves. Kate, our Senior Manager eCommerce Analytics, managed to nab one and has been using it for months over in the intense heat over in the US, so I've asked her for some extra information on what it's like to use. Is it cooling? Yes. Is it quiet? Yes. Is the mist feature genuinely good? Yes. Is it the better than a portable mini fan? Yes. Is it an easy way to help you to cool a room down? Yes. That's a lot of yesses.

At woman&home, we’ve been busy testing all the best cooling fans on the market, from Shark’s sleek new TurboBlade (a hit with our Lifestyle Editor, Tamara, and her dog), to dinky handheld fans (an essential for Digital Editor, Kerrie, who’s usually melting in the heat), and even Dyson’s big and bold model (ideal for filtering the air on my traffic-heavy road). But the one fan that keeps stealing the spotlight in every team meeting is the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo. And it’s easy to see why.
Calling itself “portable” doesn’t quite do it justice. This fan is truly go-anywhere. It’s cordless, lightweight, and delightfully nimble, making it just as useful in a stuffy home office as it is for sun-soaked lounging in the garden. But don’t let the size fool you. The power it delivers is on another level compared to most portable fans I’ve tested. With airflow that can reach up to 20 m and whisper-quiet operation (just 38 dB on the low setting), it’s strong enough to cool a proper space, yet gentle enough to use while sleeping.
What really sets the HydroGo apart, though, is its clever misting function. Our colleague Kate, who owns one, let it slip in a meeting: "I've used it a bunch, and I’ve even been testing out the mister. It's great." The mist gives you that instant ‘ahh’ feeling on a hot day, a light, cooling spray that refreshes your face and helps lower the perceived temperature, without leaving everything damp. It's spa-like, but practical.
So, who’s it really for? While I’m tempted to say everyone, it’s especially brilliant for those living in smaller flats or homes without much outdoor space. Remote workers will love the flexibility, and it’s perfect for patios, balconies, and compact gardens. It’s also ideal for pet owners, new parents, or anyone who wants to cool a specific area without the faff of hoses or the risk of wet floors, particularly handy when hosepipe bans come into play.
Kerrie, our Digital Editor, bought this last summer and labelled it "one of the best investments" she's made. She says she uses hers daily inside and outside. Kerrie also pointed out how safe it is. She said "Having three young kids, I particularly like how safe the Shark fan is - there's no way little fingers can get to the blades, or hair caught up in it - my four-year-old daughter regularly asks if she can have this on the floor by her bed to help her fall asleep. It's lightweight in and out of the stand, so super easy to move about, so much so I recently packed it up to take on a UK holiday with us (which was a lifesaver as the accommodation didn't have air con)."
In short, if you need clever cooling that fits around your life (and doesn’t take over your space), this one’s a bit of a revelation. You can see the misting at work in Kate's home in the video above. I just wish we could feel it through the screen too.
Settings on the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Misting Fan FA050UK
The beauty of this fan is that is really a set-up-and-go model. Once it's charged (or connected to the 2m cord), you can set it running. There are five fan speeds and two 'SmartBreeze' modes, mist settings (continuous or interval, plus a turbo boost button. All of these are accessible via buttons on the top. It's genius.
Whilst this has amazing air power just running through the fan, I couldn't breeze over the fact that this has a misting function; it's one of the reasons that this has been so immensely popular.
Kerrie, our Digital Editor, says "The Shark has five power settings, the lowest two of which you can barely hear. From setting three upwards it does get louder, but compared to other electric fans I have used, it's is surprisingly quiet for the power it can generate. "
On the top of the fan, you'll see a 150ml space to fill with water. Then, when you switch on the mist setting, you'll feel a fine, cooling mist that takes the edge off even the stickiest summer heat. Kerrie calls it a "game-changer", because the mist is like a mini spa moment on a hot day.
It's perfect for when you're lounging in the garden, having a picnic, or even exercising outside. And, because the fan is totally portable, you can take the breeze and mist with you wherever you go.
Alternatives to the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Misting Fan FA050UK
Given that the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Portable Misting Fan has sold out in lots of places (importantly not at Shark though), I thought I should share some alternative options for you to consider. From the models that the team and I have tested, these are the ones we know and love:
The Shark TurboBlade is sleek, powerful, and perfect if you want something that looks as good as it cools. It’s ideal for style-conscious homes, pet owners (our editor’s dog loves it), and anyone craving a proper breeze without the bulk.
This combines air purifying, heating, and cooling into one, elegant loop. It's a bigger and more expensive option than the others, but works extremely hard to justify the price tag. I use mine almost constantly.
Final thoughts on the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo Portable Misting Fan
So, you're lucky that I've found somewhere that has stock of this sell-out cooling, misting, portable fan. Just don't sleep on this saving, because it's highly sought after. I put one in my basket already.
