Panda London Bamboo Bedding
Panda London Bamboo Bedding: was £53 now £45 at Amazon

This review is about the Cozy Earth Bamboo Bedding on sale at Amazon, but it's expensive. Panda London is my second recommendation (also on sale at Amazon) and it's a lot cheaper!

Amazon isn’t usually where I turn for luxury, breathable bedding, but one hot, restless night, I found myself scrolling through bamboo sheet sets and impulsively clicking “buy” on a set from Cozy Earth. Hailed by hot sleepers as something close to magic, these sheets promised cooling comfort and a touch of indulgence. Naturally, I had to put them to the test.

You’ve probably seen Cozy Earth pop up on Amazon, in sleep forums for the best bedding, or in conversations about how to get a better night’s rest. The brand combines luxury with a strong sustainability ethos, and (spoiler alert) the results speak for themselves.

I’ve been sleeping in these sheets during a heatwave, with indoor temperatures creeping up to 32°C. That’s not hyperbole, it’s what my thermostat said. And yet, somehow, these silky-soft sheets kept my skin cool, fresh, and surprisingly comfortable. Let’s get into the details.

Who would the Cozy Earth Bamboo Bedding suit?

It doesn’t have to be hot weather to make the most of these sheets. If you’re a hot sleeper or you struggle with night sweats, this is a brilliant investment to make. Bamboo viscose does a brilliant job of temperature regulation, wicking moisture away from your skin, so your skin doesn’t get clammy and sweaty.

I never thought I would be saying this about sheets that you can buy on Amazon, but I’d happily recommend these to my snobbiest friends (because I know I’m even more choosy about my sheets). These have nice weight to them, whilst feeling really soft too. All the finishes, from the easy sizing and luxury stitching around the edges show off the markers of a set of sheets that’s sublime. All the soothing, neutral shades help to deliver in a minimalist, clean look that makes my bed look more inviting than ever (which is dangerous when you love your sleep as much as I do).

There’s also a wonderful set of eco credentials wrapped up inside the sheets. Cozy Earth is a brilliant champion of ethical production, offering a lower environmental footprint than your average sheets.

Composition of the Cozy Earth Bedding

Bamboo sheets are worth preparing yourself for, because they don’t feel like cotton. Instead the pure, bamboo derived viscose has a satin-like feel. It makes the sheets ‘slippy’ in my partners words, but don’t let that put you off. That very sloppiness is what makes it so incredibly cooling.

The bamboo also passes the test for those who have sensitive skin, as it’s hypoallergenic and odour resistant. When you’re hot at night, there’s nothing more soothing than sheets like these.

What is Cozy Earth Bedding like to sleep on?

The deep sheets, and generous elastic are a godsend for making the bed. They fit with the right amount of snugness to look smart, but with enough room to stop making the bed feel like a workout.

I’ve already explained that I was testing these as the temperatures in the UK were rising. Normally, I sleep on linen, which is already cooling, but it somehow felt like everything in my house was radiating heat. The relief I felt in slipping in to sheets that are soft and cool from day one is immeasurable.

After I had adjusted to the sheets feeling a little different to my normal set, I felt comfortable through the whole night. Admittedly, I did throw the duvet cover off in the night (who wouldn’t when it feels like 32 degrees in the house?) but my skin actually still felt good in the morning. I didn’t have that horrible clammy layer that you get from a hot, irritable night of sleep.

Both my partner and I kept these on the bed (and made sure they were washed and returned to their established position imminently) because we’ve come to love them so much. Now that things are hotting up again, I’m nothing but grateful for having some bamboo on my bed.

Cleaning the Cozy Earth bedding

Thankfully, cleaning these sheets is easy. Cozy Earth recommends machine washing them on cold with ordinary detergent. You don’t need any bleach or fabric softener: these are perfect as they are. Cozy Earth days that water-based stains will wash out easily, but any oil based ones will need to be pre-treated and they might prove to be a little more stubborn. Nonetheless they should eventually clear.

In an ideal world, Cozy Earth would have you dry these sheets outside or on a heated airer. If that’s not possible, they recommend tumble drying them on a low setting.

These are my gorgeous Secret Linen Store sheets. I'll get them back out when it's cooler.

Before the Cozy Earth Bamboo Set, I swore by my linen sheets for hot weather. I reluctantly switched my Secret Linen Store set out for these sheets when I was testing, but now (in this heat) I won't be changing back to anything other than bamboo.

The benefit of Secret Linen Store's sheets is that they have more designs on offer. This helps to contribute to the soft, cosy feeling of your bed. Bamboo is a little less inviting in that sense, but the cool-to-touch feeling is something that I wouldn't swap out with weather like this.

If Cozy Earth's Bamboo Bedding set looks a little too expensive, I highly recommend Panda London's Bamboo bedding set too. This has that same slippery feeling and range of colours on offer, but it's much more affordable. You won't get the really luxury touches (including the bag that the Cozy Earth bedding is delivered in), but it does have nice bamboo buttons all along the base of the duvet.

If you're a hot sleeper who's struggling to stay cool at night, these are perfect. Yes, you'll need to adjust to the slippery feeling of bamboo viscose, but, trust me. It's worth taking the time to switch.
