The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are rumored to be planning on baptizing their second child, Lilibet 'Lili' Diana, at Windsor Castle—a decision not everyone is too keen on.
Meghan and Harry christened their firstborn, Archie, at the royal residence's private chapel in July 2019, just six months before their high-profile emigration to the US. They are now reportedly hoping to return to England to baptize Lili in the company of her great-grandmother, the Queen.
The visit would mark their first trip as a couple to the UK since their high-profile withdrawal from the Royal Family in January 2020.
"Now there is talk—as she is already older than her brother Archie was when he was christened—that they are pushing for a ceremony in the private chapel at Windsor Castle," royal biographer Robert Jobson wrote in the Mirror last week.
"They seem to be blissfully unaware of the mayhem their behavior has caused the Queen, the monarchy, and the Royal Family.
"To some, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's sense of entitlement might seem breathtaking."
With so much controversy surrounding their stateside move, it's no surprise that their desire to have Lili christened at Windsor has been met with criticism.
The Duke and Duchess haven't exactly been on golden terms with their British relatives in recent months, having made numerous negative comments about the Royal Family during their bombshell Oprah interview, including allegations of racism against Buckingham Palace.
Tensions escalated to the point that the Queen responded to the allegations with a public statement, in which she acknowledged the seriousness of the couple's claims but added "recollections may vary." This line reportedly didn't go down well with Harry and Meghan, who believe Queen failed to take 'accountability' for the situation.
If that wasn't bad enough, the Duke has also been embroiled in a bitter rift with his brother, the Duke of Cambridge, and father, Prince Charles, since his move to the US. According to royal insiders, Prince William’s conflict with Harry is the hardest thing he has gone through since their mother's tragic death in 1997. The brothers reunited for Princess Diana's statue unveiling in July, but have reportedly yet to fully heal from their ongoing feud.
Despite all this family drama, it looks like Harry and Meghan are dead set on having their daughter christened amongst her loved ones.
"Harry told several people that they want to have Lili christened in Windsor, just like her brother," an insider told the Daily Mail in July. “They are happy to wait until circumstances allow.”
