Kate Middleton carries ‘heavy burden’ after ‘natural streamlining’ of Royal Family
Kate Middleton has been supporting the Queen at one of the most challenging times of her life...
Kate Middleton could reportedly carry a “heavy burden” after a “natural streamlining” of the Royal Family makes her commitment to royal duties all the more important.
- The Duchess of Cambridge is one of the most popular senior royals and it seems she and Prince William could carry more “long term” pressure.
- It’s claimed that with several members of The Firm no longer working royals, the Cambridges could have a “heavy burden” of making the monarchy “relevant”.
- This royal news comes as the Queen snubs Lilibet's first birthday in favor of hosting a huge event.
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge has helped support the Queen throughout one of the most difficult years of her life, remaining committed to her royal duties and undertaking a huge number of important engagements. With the loss of Prince Philip, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview and allegations against Prince Andrew, Her Majesty and the monarchy have faced challenging times. Now it’s been suggested that it will be Kate and Prince William who could carry a “heavy burden” when it comes to the Royal Family’s future.
As reported by The Mirror, royal expert Robert Jobson has stated that over a year after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle “stepped back”, their absence is still having a huge impact on their family. This includes Kate Middleton and Prince William, whom the expert believes will carry the “burden” long term.
"Two years on from the Sandringham summit the dust has settled over Harry and Meghan’s decision to quit as full time royals. So much has changed, but one thing is certain—the Sussexes’ departure has left the Monarchy in a worse position,” he claimed. "Why? Because they were international stars, who shone a light on Britain and what is good about our country, our diversity and our humour.”
Robert went on to express his belief that as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations approach, the monarchy is “in need of renovation” and an “uplift”. Already this year several of the Queen’s children and her grandson Prince William and Kate Middleton have been observed taking on a larger role in the Sussexes’ absence.
And it seems that although it’s Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla who will increasingly feel “pressure” as they support Her Majesty, “long term” it will be Kate and Prince William tasked with making the monarchy “relevant”. Reports have previously suggested that Prince Charles wanted to “streamline” the Royal Family.
However with the Sussexes’ settled in their Santa Barbara home and Prince Andrew stripped of military honors and patronages, it’s thought that this might not happen.

"There had been talk that Charles was planning a cull of lesser royals and wanted to streamline The Firm when he is king,” Robert alleged, later saying, "Such a cull is no longer really needed with Harry and Meghan’s self-imposed exile and The Duke of York’s enforced absence from royal life”.
“So the streamlining has happened naturally,” he added. “It means going forward, that the pressure will increasingly be on Charles and Camilla. But long term it will be William and his wife, Catherine, who will carry the heavy burden of making the Crown relevant.”
The Duchess of Cambridge already has a number of royal patronages and projects, though it seems her workload could be set to become even greater as the years go on. In November last year she and Prince William stepped in for the Queen after she was forced to pull out of her appearance at the COP26 summit.
Now as Her Majesty prepares to mark her 70th year on the throne and the turbulent recent times continue to be felt, the Cambridges will no doubt be focusing on supporting her and forging the monarchy’s path forwards.
